I haul my 2 young kids in the back of my Ranger and I've discovered that they are close enough to easily hit the door locks between the times I strap them in and get in myself. This is a problem in the Georgia heat when the average person starts the car before you get anyone in. ?

They are old enough to hit the button again for me when they want to, but I am not thrilled with having to yell at the window in a public parking lot to let me in. ?

If I can lock the power windows from the drivers seat, it seems like I should be able to disable the locks too. Am I just missing it?

Lol. My kids do the same. I've got "the look" down now so I don't have to yell anymore. Depending on how the switches are wired you could probably unplug the door lock harness in the door panels back there.
Haven't tried that myself.

There's no way to disable the locks like you can the windows. You'll either have to use your fob,FordPass app or tie your kids hands together while you're getting in the front seat. lol ?

Ha. Yeah, I've threatened them to never touch it again but I don't believe that will last. It wouldn't be so bad but I've got in the habit of plugging my phone in first because my Android Auto only works if it's plugged in before the car starts. ?

Maybe someone knows better than I do but my thought is does activating the rear child safety locks so that the doors can't be opened from the inside disable the power door lock buttons? bJust a thought/question.

Just curious if had any luck with disabling the rear locks? That is something I don't want my kids having any control of.

I'm pretty sure child safety locks are government mandated. Look on the edge of the rear doors, near the catch.

I'm pretty sure he is asking about the electric lock buttons on the inside panel, whose operation is unaffected by the child-lock switch. AKa the theme of this entire thread.

A Scab will disable rear door locks. Then you have another problem with back seat length though, sorry for the terrible solution. :giggle:

One freeway trip tied to the roof, they'll never touch the window control again.

At the rear door ,look at the edge next to where the door catches, there is a black small round opening with a slot , take your key or a small screwdriver and turn it down a small amount it will catch.....that should lock the door, your key will unlock the door. To undue this reverse . There is a white one on the inside, both do the same thing. Keep the kids safe.
