I was planning on ordering an XL Extend Cab, because of the option to delete the rear jump seats. Let's face, they're just basically in the way. But, there are some very nice XLT Extend Cabs out there for about the same price of the XL I had planned. My question is, does anyone know if those little back seats can be removed without major surgery? Thanks again for bearing with my rookie questions.

The bottoms just lock in and pop off, not sure about the backs.

Honestly they aren’t as bad as you would think, Im 5’11 and can fit back there, wouldn’t want to on a long trip, but short rides are fine

To my understanding it should be able to be removed fairly easily. The seat backs will be the worst part of it but if not mistaken a few tools to remove a few bolts and you will be good. Perhaps someone who knows can answer this better than myself since I have a crew cab.

Looks to me like they are pretty thin an don't take up much space so I just leave them in. No one has ridden back there yet, just the groceries.

Andrew, the reason I need 'em gone it for inside the cab storage. If the seat back laid flat when down that would be good, but sadly they don't.

I agree Lang, but I need some flat storage space back there. As I've seen the seat back doesn't lay flat when down. and they just won't work for me. So, if they're "easy out" that would be good foe me.

Chris, I was hoping it would be just a 2 beer job. :)

I think if you pull back the Velcro cover tab on top of the seat back that is under the head rests you will find a bolt to remove. Once you do that, the seat backs come off fairly easy. There is a thread somewhere about this.

Also, keep in mind that you will expose the flapper vents that equalize cabin pressure for door opening and closing. Exposing these will produce much more road noise. You can order the same rear cover that the XL Ranger's with seat delete use to keep the in-cab experience quiet.

the back of the seat unbolts with 14mm socket. under the flap where you attach the car seat at the is a hidden bolt. remove that and give it a good yank. i inded up using 1/4" plywood to make a carpeted cover to replace Them. And yes it does let in more road noise through the vents.

Thanks for the links folks. That's just what I needed.

I have a 2020. There is a bolt in the recessed area under the headrest. Remove the bolt. About 2" below the bolt is a plastic clip that holds the seat back to the cabin wall. Grab the top of the seat back and give a quick tug. The seat should pull away. The clip will break but really doesn't have to be replaced since the bolt you removed will hold the seat back securely in place. The bottom of the seat back is held by two clips at the bottom and can easily be removed. A rear seat delete option is also available for the XL model ($240) but I was told that it is only available when ordering a truck and not after market. Hope this helped.
