Mine is Fx4, the rear springs are the same as the other trucks. I have mine set to 2.5”/4” drop. I think the power is great for the weight and engine. I make 332/365 to the wheels on 93 octane with stock wheels. On 33’s it’s about 20 less. I am going to do an E30 or possibly flex tune soon but as it sits it’s a solid 12 second ride. And launches hard as shit!

Part of me wishes I got a Blue one and did the SCT SEMA clone to it. My wife and I love Blue things! I like your lowered 4x4, except those knobby tires, while it's dropped, looks weird to me, LOL! Just my opinion :D

I'm not trying to diss you so please take no offense. I have yet to see a video or even a time slip that shows a 12 second 1/4 time for any late model Ranger. I don't disagree that the power is great from the engine. I disagree when it comes to the power being great for the weight of the truck. Ive seen several videos of people using in car measuring devices that claim super quick times, on no prepped track surfaces no less. Please dont feel that I am attacking you. I just see lots of people posting 12 sec this and 12 sec that with no time slips. A racer that I would trust based on his posts is Doc. I can tell he has several runs done and had dialed in his methods. He does a 13.9 @ 99 iirc. Sure there are more heavily modded rides out there. But the mods most people are claiming to get to 12 sec are either not going to net the power to get there. Basically every bolt on you can throw currently will net you ~20-30hp and similar tq tops. The tune is much more than that. This supports what I say. Doc is very smart in not throwing a bunch of parts at his truck. He has 90% of the performance of the truck right where its at. I think e85 tuning nets people the best results.

The current turbo upgrades are just revised impellers which are only really capable of shifting the power band. The size of the housing dictate total cfm. You need the impeller but you also neww a correlative gain in AFR to increase flow further. Our turbo are very small and setup to deliver low end tq. They are suitable for much higher boost levels on pump gas. I highly doubt a published flow map would differ much from the stock flow map. The gains are there, but they are negligible. The problem is we have a funky turbo desgin/integration. The mount to head design is different from the applications that are more geared to tuning. The Mustang and Focus. Turbo that are effective for them wouldnt be for us. Im not saying its inherently bad. It is more efficient, but it is not say a t3 or t4 body so there aren't hundreds and applications available. As of now there is 1 turbo available and shoe horning minor impeller changes into it is the upgrade.

I think the measuring stick is very different a lot of people. I am aware that my expectations are somewhat unrealistic for this vehicle. If our truck starts hitting 12.9s yes its a 12 sec run, but speed wise it feels like a 13 sec ride. Consider I have made hundreds of passes at 10 sec range and launched on 26 x 10 slicks at 5200 rpm countless times. I have pics of my car corkscrewing and pulling the front wheels off the ground. For me a hard launch is brutal. It physically hurts. I have literally gone though many sets of slicks.

I built two Subaru Stis that both did 12 secs. WIth similar power levels that people will achieve with the Ranger at reasonable builds. They weighed several hundred lbs less than a ranger and were awd. The key to the run was the 60 ft time. If you didnt side step the clutch at 4k or up or you didnt have a 12 sec run.

My problem is comparing a truck that was built to be a drag racer, the lightning. In stock form it made 380hp and 450tq. It also was rated conservatively. With less than 2k investment in was a low 12 secs ride on street tires. I think my lowest time was 12.4 at Gainsville Fl.

I still stand behind the thought process that people have unrealistic expectations for 1/4 mile times here. The 2.3 eb is a detuned Mustang engine essentially. It is packaged better, but it also has some differences from our application. In honesty I believe our engines were built stronger. Better rods, coating on the pistons and a revised deck that should hold more power. It doesnt have the aftermarket interest to develop the parts needed to obtain the power levels that make me happy. At least yet. I can only hope. I don't have the time to do the crazy stuff myself anymore. So I wont be building any one off anything. My uncle has a large industrial machine shop in Orlando and I grew up playing with stuff. I don't have access to anything like that anymore.

I honestly got tired of reading after the first couple sentences but…. If you have yet to see a 19-23 Ranger running 12’s you simply aren’t looking.

Finally did it today. I bought the whole Belltech kit over a year ago including control arms. I did the whole swap today on the ground, but I was a tech in a past life. I had my cordless impact which made it go quick. My Ranger is an FX2 so I could get the locker. Unfortunately it utilizes higher ride height springs so the effective lowering is less than usual, but my tire change (295/35/18 Toyo Proxes) made up the difference. I lowered Fr 2.75" R 4" but I will be changing to 5" rear as a rake of 1.4" still exists. The kit went on smoothly save for missing bolts that I had to procure. Just waiting on my Airdesign flares to come in now.

I wont be acquiring regular ride height rated springs as I am a mountainbiker and I live in the mountains so I need to retain some semblance of ground clearance.

Great looking truck! Lots of work and thought to really make it "your" truck.

And that's what it's all about - enjoying your truck. And I hope you enjoy yours for many, many miles - I've enjoyed seeing your pics. =)

So 4" drop in the back? Nice! The wheels fill the wheel wells nicely.

I fantasize about how nice it would be to get in your truck for me, not balancing on a side step and twisting to get in without destroying the seat bolsters!

I also imagine that you have a less bouncy ride since you're not hiked up and that you may even have a tad less wind noise.

But it looks great and your pics show your work off nicely! =)

Thank you! It rides very nicely, not bouncy at all. I have a phobia about wearing out my bolster and lowering it just made sense to me. ?

Im torn on the looks. I like it but I want to hate it. So polarizing. Lowered bigger tires? But it looks so good.

I have other wheels if it helps your approval.

Wheels dont make a difference, I actually like the bigger ones. I did say it looks good. Just lowered with big tires is a mind screw. I like it. Your ground clearance actually increased but the truck looks so compact. You really nailed it.

I just want to say that the whole...

"Looks like youre copying my truck"

"I'm not, I'm copying this one"

"But mine's a copy of that one too"

Exchange was absolutely stellar!
