Escape PHEVDid you order an ST Escape ?
Ford is turning into a damn joke. And every day is a new punchline. That's my fear too. Look how expensive the taillights are especially with the Bliss. I'm sure these will be an arm and a leg too. ?
That'll be nice. Can't wait to hear your thoughts after getting it as I really want a PHEV Ranger.Escape PHEV
Ah, ok.No mine are white too. I just meant it's nice to have the fogs and with the OEM ones you have the pockets and wiring to change them out to yellow if needed.
Probably won't be able to use the ac during summer for the same reason. Then there are the lights, entertainment system, power windows, electric power steering, nav system, power locks, power seats, ect ect ect........
Getting it will be the fun part. Ordered in September and not scheduled yet. Got wind last week of having to remove the SirusXM to get it moving. Dealer did so and we’ll see how that works. That'll be nice. Can't wait to hear your thoughts after getting it as I really want a PHEV Ranger.
So now SiriusXM is a constraint?Getting it will be the fun part. Ordered in September and not scheduled yet. Got wind last week of having to remove the SirusXM to get it moving. Dealer did so and we’ll see how that works.
it will turn into race what you'll get first, bronco or ranger and which will be missing more stuff. I'd be surprised if they come with rear view mirrors and hub covers at this pointOf course with my luck it'll get built right a way instead of delayed until year 2. lol
I'm betting on the Ranger seeing as I'm still #406 on the dealers list for my Bronco. Price protection ends in 2023 and there's no way they're getting 400+ Bronco allocations for '23, heck they've been averaging 10 now.it will turn into race what you'll get first, bronco or ranger and which will be missing more stuff. To be fair, I'm pretty sure that's an "every EV" thing. Not just a Ford thing.
This is just a natural constraint of electrically powering everything. Nobody wants a battery big enough to hold the energy contained in a single tank of gasoline. At 36 gallons of gasoline, the energy equivalent is 1200 kWh (1.2 million Watt-hours). The current F150 Lightning battery options are 98 kWh (standard) and 131 kWh (extended range). The equivalent to the gas tank is a battery 10 times the size of the current offering. Where would they put it? What would this do to the weight of the vehicle? Load capacity?Ford is turning into a damn joke. And every day is a new punchline.
Nah Chevy, Hyundai and Tesla all have heat in the form of battery fires. Cozy!To be fair, I'm pretty sure that's an "every EV" thing. Not just a Ford thing.
I always liked the hybrids. Just buy one and go, nothing extra needed and efficient as can be (though they should be more efficient by now if the whole industry didn't practically abandon them). Even when the batteries go you can replace individual cells instead of the whole thing, at least that's how it used to be.This is just a natural constraint of electrically powering everything. This is happening because the main "stakeholder" Ford pays attention to at this point is the government (EPA, et al). Customers be damned. "We can make them buy anything we want them to buy." is the mindset. EVs are what THEY want, so EVs are what WE get. Toyota is the only manufacturer bucking the trend about this at the moment. Ford and GM are just extensions of the Federal government at this point.
But there is a MASSIVE amount of propaganda out there driven by foreign policy and other related concerns (having to do with the personal comfort and security of politicians) that have nothing to do with ordinary working folks and business people having the ability to move around freely.
*** Geekery and details - you can skip the rest if you're not into it *** I have worked as an electrical engineer, and I know all the arguments forward and back. The conversion rate for gasoline converted by an IC engine at the point of use is lower, so you have more losses if you run straight gasoline power. Hybrids can run the engine at peak efficiency, and store the energy in a battery. The electrical controls to deliver torque by a traction motor are more efficient, more controllable, can eliminate a clutch and reduce need for a transmission, and for these and some other reasons, a hybrid vehicle makes a LOT more sense, and most people would agree, once they realize the total picture of EV vs gasoline. Constraints on raw materials for batteries and electric motors make the 100% EV vision unfeasible, but never mind all that for now.
Not too many people want to set up their own personal generating plant at their house to allow efficient charging of these vehicles when EVERYBODY has to have one. Witness Switzerland developing plans for BANNING the charging of electrical vehicles right now. But if there are this many EVs on the road, the grid will need to be de-centralized. What would this de-centralized grid look like? Natural gas? Diesel? Bunker oil? Coal? Micro-turbines? Neighborhood thorium reactor co-ops?
Not to be a downer but a friend of mine ordered an Escape PHEV last Feb. when it didn't have a vin by September he cancelled the order. He bought a Lincoln Corsair instead. His order had every available option. He was told that the powered lift gate was a constraint. Hopefully some of the supply chain problems are getting better, and you will have better luck.Getting it will be the fun part. Ordered in September and not scheduled yet. It’s a battle between constraints and allocation. It’s a full time job keeping up with information. Our dealer is “ok” but not on top of things like others are. So I stay on top of it to put our order in a position to be attractive so it can be scheduled and built. We can use the Sirius XM via app on CarPlay so no big loss there. Otherwise our order looks pretty clean ( as I type this). By the way they did away with the foot activated lift gate for 23Not to be a downer but a friend of mine ordered an Escape PHEV last Feb. when it didn't have a vin by September he cancelled the order. I know that my friends at the Louisville Assembly Plant would just love to build it for you if they could just get the parts.![]()
