Could drill and wire the bolts like aircraft hardware.

I was thinking the same but would need to be 0.32 like the pic above , but add a locking tab to attach it at the frame mounting bolts vs side to side each bolt would have its own positive lock

Well did it help?
So that start stop clunk was 90% better. However, from 20-30 mph there was a very loud vibration from the driveshaft. I ended up stopping in a Meijer parking lot to remove the thing before I got on the freeway and had nowhere to stop.

Scientific test resulted in the polyurethane bushing is not the fix.

Then I don't see how the one on the thread could be either. They both have the same objective.

I just remembered that I had this doohicky Shawn with Tom Woods Driveshaft made to try and reduce the play in the carrier bearing. I just shoved it in and figured I would see if it made any difference before I order this aftermarket unit.

I got one of those too ! I had a slight rumble at 20 to 30 and jamed it in there and it fixed the slight rumble at 20 to 30 !!!
Sadly 😥 though, a considerably worse rumble appeared at 50 + ... the original slight rumble has either just faded away or I'm tuned to it now 🤔 but if it ever starts again I'll order a one piece and be done...

I have not had any crazy driveshaft issues to warrant the JXB to “fix” something. I was really interested for it to be preventative mod.

I did notice when installing the Poly bushing that gap at the bottom of the carrier bearing was tighter than the top because I had to push the driveshaft up to squeeze it in there. Maybe that slight change in driveshaft angle created the vibration in my case.

There are no 1 piece drive shafts available for the Tremor.

Well I ordered one of these carrier bearing holders today. Ships in may it said. I definitely feel some play around parking lots and shifting to reverse or drive. Figured why not lets try it. Also got some poly sway bar bushings.

I seen that too and I am interested. Would be a lot cheaper then buying a new drive shaft.

But I was under the impression the bearing is not removable without damaging the driveshaft.

One issue with a 2 piece drive shaft is the vibration. I'm wondering how much this setup will lessen that.
It might be apples and oranges, but I come from the Explorer Sport Trac world where the carrier bearings are also a problem as they age out. On Sport Tracs the bearing is replaceable on a 2wd but not on a 4wd, with a 4wd you have to get a whole new driveshaft. Rock Auto had by far the best price.
If I ever need that for the Ranger I'll just get the one-piece driveshaft from Tom Woods Driveshafts.
I'd never changed a driveshaft before, on my Sport Trac it took an hour and a half and if I had to do it again I could do it in half that time. Not terribly difficult.

Have to say one of the top things I have done is install one of Tom’s drive shafts!

The rubber around the stock carrier bearing in my opinion is there to absorb the out of time motions of the driveshaft, with the U joints not timed/phased the shaft naturally rotates in an elliptical pattern. (or a jump rope pattern)

I tried filling in the area around the carrier bearing, it vibrated worse at higher speeds. I think it needs the rubber to absorb the motion of the driveshaft, so with that, I wonder how the aftermarket center support bearing will do, it's interesting how they used rubber insulators to mount it to the frame.

If it was easier, I would like to see how a properly timed/phased stock driveshaft would work, I called a driveshaft shop back in 2021, when I told him the stock shaft was out of time/phase by a few degrees, he did not think I knew what I was talking about, he said "it must really shake if it is"

Now that my center support bearing is starting to scream under hard throttle, I have to decide what to do, new one piece driveshaft, or another stock bearing, or maybe this new bearing if it works.
