I parked and then got back in. When I started the truck I got a number of faults. ABS and Lane Keeping were among them. I was able to drive by pressing "Ok" but everything including back up help was disabled. As soon as I got on the highway it all cleared. The dealership just told me what google did. Does anyone have any experience with this? Can I fix this by resetting the computer? How do I do that?

Faults as follows:
Antilock Brake Fault
Pre-Collision Assist Not Available
Hill Start Assist Warning
Blind Spot Detection with Cross Traffic

What did the dealership tell you? Could have been a fault the computer reset and moved on. Wet connection, failing battery could do it too, failing sensor ect.

All they said was nearly identical to what I found on AI. I have been driving significantly less since I retired in October. Maybe a failing battery?

Check for DTC codes using Forscan with an OBDII adaptor. Knowing the codes will point you in the right direction.

@lanzjo , this is the real AI - Actual Intelligence.

Sure, corporations using AI to mine vetted or internal databases to assist with their operations might work but AI for everyday things is a crap shoot. I wouldn’t trust it for advice on how to fertilize my lawn, let alone on how to solve problems with my truck, especially a Ranger.

Seriously, it relies on all the information out there on the interwebs and a lot of that is from this forum’s misfits (sorry Sid), reprobates (no offense Robert), anecdotal diehards (couldn’t help myself Tony), and seasoned experts (you know who they are).

Unfortunately, the seasoned experts are drowned out by the Friday night drunk posting crew so it’s a good thing you eventually came here where the experts seem to chime in early, shutting down a lot of the disinformation.

Good luck!

Less driving could do it. Does it stay parked for extended periods? A battery tender could fox this.

All the systems have a deep sleep mode, not all wake up at the same speed. If you instantly started the truck from a long rest then I could see this.

Hate to say it. Just turn it off and back on. Unfortunately as computer dependent as they are, they have glitches sometimes. All of my rangeres have glitched :( but all ended okay afterwards. Just a problem if it stays not working.

‘Fess up Robert. You’ve covered dash warning lights on your older vehicles with pieces of black electrical tape, haven’t you? ;)

I once desoldered a led warning light to pass visual inspection on emissions. No judgement here.

I restarted the truck a couple times but that didn't make the faults go away. They went away when I went on the highway at around 40 mph. I'm guessing it was when the lane keeping stuff triggered. But I am just going to cover the dash with a nice big contractor bag and move on. :like:

Check for leaking differential fluid. When mine leaked, it got on the sensors and set it off. You'll know, it was all over the wheel well.
