avid tent campers. So its an upgrade in many ways.
Their current SUV will only take them so far down logging roads and up creek beds. Add in the dog, and their gear, a pickup suits their lifestyle better than an SUV.
That will depend. What kind of SUV do they have right now? Between an SUV and a Pickup Truck both can be setup well to go far OffRoad

You can stop.
I'm not trying to block them or give alternatives. You don't need to either.
I asked about fair pricing since I am not up to speed on used Taco's, not on how much coin they can sink into their SUV to make it someone else's dream.

I'm still curious about what they currently have. I will agree that if they choose to buy the Taco then so be it. With the claim of the truck taking them further I'm very curious as to what they have

That sounds like a pretty typical price for a stock Tacoma in my area. If it's in decent shape, and she's going to make good use of the accessories, that's not a bad deal.

I just traded in a 2012 Tacoma with 145kmi on the odometer. Was it super comfortable or fun to drive? No, but it was reliable and relatively easy to work on. The only reason I sold it was rust finally popping up everywhere this spring.

Obviously, no one here has seen the truck either and we can’t give you an informed opinion on the value of the truck. I think your daughter just has to trust that her employer would be fair with her, or not.

I just love that she wants to know what Dad thinks. I bet you do too Wang.

Seems like a reasonable price, given the market and what mid-size SuperCrews go for - throw in those overlanding add-ons and it looks like she’ll love it…and Dad too.

Trucks are not cheap. Doesn’t seem priced out if line. Especially tacos in high demand. Low miles, looks clean, any service history? Daughter will be happy…

I'll find out more today hopefully, but they pulled the trigger yesterday and bought it. Promptly loaded it up and headed camping for the night.
They didn't waste any time.
Sounds like a number of their friends already live the taco life, so they obviously know what they are getting into.

I imagine many of us would like to know how well the shake-down trip went. I hope it's all she ever dreamed it would be.

If I didn't feel fucking weird in a taco I wouldn't be in a Ford. Not comfortable for me. Then I also like hauling ass and.... no comparison between the two. Especially after a relatively cheap box thing that made mine meaner.

Price looks good IMO.

If she fits, awesome

If she doesn't mind being slow as hell.... I live in Houston so power is a safety feature. But.. slow is cool... then

Buy it.

Her update after a couple days, is they love it. they feel they paid a fair price, and its leaps and bounds more capable than their SUV. And the dog loves it too.
I asked about the seats position and they said neither of them find it uncomfortable. Perhaps they already have seat jackers? I told her what to look for in case down the road after more miles they notice something is amiss and I'll buy them if they need them.
Power wise, I think they're upgrading from the SUV anyways, so I wont tell them how much better the Ranger is over that. They aren't hardcore offroaders, but this might set them up down that path eventually. There's enough explorable logging roads and trails around to keep them occupied for quite some time.
I'm just happy that she's happy. Its a big step sinking that much $$$ into a vehicle. Now lets hope it wasn't traded in because it was a lemon.

Glad to hear they are happy, but you still haven't said what the SUV was

I don't know why you're so hung up on it, but if it helps you sleep at night its a Rav4.
Well it does help to have basic info like that. That already tells me they didn't even have an SUV in the first place. They just had a soccer mom crossover. It definitely explains a bit more as to why the taco would suit them better
