I recently bought a used 2021 Ranger STX. There was one previous owner. I started to noticed little pieces of shredded up paper in the back seat from time to time. I finally investigated and discovered the rear seat was completely stuffed with shredded paper. I’d assume this was to help with noise reduction. Was this done by the manufacturer, or the previous owner?

It was done by a rodent. Previous owner? no. Current tenant? likely.

hmm I didn’t even think of that. Once I found it, I unzipped it and started to vacuum it out. I started to realize there was so much that it looked intentional.

Yep, rodents.

And yes, that darn rodent was very intentional. Just like us, they love Rangers!

I removed the rear seats yesterday, making room for tool storage. I am an electrical contractor. Later today I will open the rear seats up to see if there are dead rodents in there.
Not like the Klein Tools spirit level wasn’t a dead giveaway.

First thing I did with my SuperCab was a rear seat delete to make room for tools. There are a number of members who have posted about their SuperCrew rear seat mods that you should search for and read about. Lots of great ideas.

Check the vent behind the glove box, the little bastards come in through the engine compartment and chew through the vent to get inside the cab - ask me how I know?

I’ll look into that, thanks. I have some packout drawers strapped at the moment. Plan is to add plywood and bolt down packout mounts.

update: I opened the rear seats yesterday, by unclipping and unscrewing the felt. I found a bunch of shredded paper but no dead rodents or anything. I’ll investigate further for possible entry points.

Guys have done everything from molle panels to dog beds to slide-outs. I’m sure you’ll find some ideas.

It was done by rodents, the same ones that will go out to engine compartment next and eat your wiring and engine cover if you have one. Little bastards.
