Haha I am right behind you. Retired, but not a senior yet :) I drive it pretty gently most of the time though.

Hey it’s drives cautiously and with courtesy.. I’m not a senior yet and I’ve been told I drive like an old man… I’m 40 for gosh sakes… you know how many traffic collisions have been my fault… one that’s it.. with over 25 yrs driving most of it in California.. also it saves money at the pump ?..

Agreed, 5 minutes is a tad long hah. I’m going to shorten it till I hear the idle kick down from starting, then take off. I also have a remote start which in Michigan is great during the winter. Allows the interior fogging to clear off before I go. That’s quite a significant difference just from varying your warm up times! I also noticed only use the “top tier” rated gas stations. I forgot but mine also went into limp mode again another time, they blamed it on bad gas, yet I only fill up at top tier stations so… It sounds as if I might as well do the performance mods I was putting off because I thought they would hurt MPG even more. From what you folks are saying is that it hasn’t really negatively affected it.
The idle kick down is my metric for when to get going.. I use remote start on a regular basis.. start it up before I leave out of the house, pack in the truck, connect my phone set gps set playlist sit for a moment and the idle settles.. shift and go..
I’m hitting 21.7 via the robot that tells me the life time specs.. I don’t use the trip an and be or 1 and 2 (whichever it is.)

I'm 75, and I DO NOT drive like an old man !!! This truck is just too much fun to baby it....almost like a sports car with a bed. I came from a Mustang GT when we bought the new camper and got Truck.....Truck may not be a Mustang, but I enjoy it almost as much.
Oh, about the mpg.....couldn't care less...it is what it is for my driving style....Smiles Per Gallon would be more accurate !!!

You also can’t pull a tiny home with a mustang. Like you do?

Hello, I have a 2021 4 cylinder extended cab (not the 4 door) 14-16mph has been pretty consistent, I got 22mpg once on an expressway set the cruise road trip years ago. Pretty dismal actually. I don’t drive agressively. I have drove aggressively and had it in Sport mode for a few tanks over the years to see if it would make a difference, not really. I keep up on maintainince. Everything checks out good. I don’t understand how I am getting such crap mpg when the quoted mpg from Ford is significantly higher than what I am getting. Any assistance would be appreciated! Thanks.
I have a 2020 2 wd, my driving is mixed hwy and town it's a pretty consistent 23 mpg

I am a retired senior as of last month. I definitely go for smiles per gallon. I like it when I do get decent mileage but I ain't crying when I don't. (Just bitch a lil).lol
I too came from a mustang gt a 19 model with a 6 speed. Actually I'm back in it. The wife has been driving the truck lately she hurt her back and doesn't want to shift.

Thanks for the responses folks!

Truck is a 2021 & has just 15,200 miles on it.

No engine mods, just added mud-flaps from Husky, & some interior mats & little stuff.

About 90% short city trips, which I know hurts MPG. On the 10% highway trips I may get 22 MPG.

I always let it warm up for about 5 minutes before I take off.

I drive it pretty gently most of the time, like I want it to last forever is how I drive it :)

I’m in Michigan, and it doesn’t seem to matter if it’s 100 or negative 30 degrees, it’s about the same regardless.

My tire pressure is always kept on the upper end of what’s recommended - 30psi.

I get 3 or 4 oil & filter changes a year regardless of miles or usage.

I also replace the air filter then.

Fuel filter has been checked, flows fine, isn’t clogged.

I do not rest my foot near the brake pedal.

It coasts very well.

It has been scanned a couple times before, nothing.

No noticeable transmission issues detected by me, or the dealer.

I don’t have a spreadsheet but I have kept gas receipts and write the mileage and MPG I got from the last fill up to check for fluctuations.

I have not checked my brake calipers as you mentioned, but I will on its next outing.

Also - I had it go into limp mode on me while I was on the highway about 3 years ago. Turns out one of my coil packs was bad…. On a 2 years old truck :/ Ford replaced it and also told me they had a whole batch of bad ones that they know of.

Thanks again for the responses & I’ll keep playing detective with it.

I also remote start it about 75% of the time and, in winter, I can let it easily idle for 15 minutes. In the summer, a few minutes to maybe 10 when at work.

That certainly drives down my MPG big time.

For me, a 5-minute warm up for a 10-minute trip means that a third of that "trip" is idling.

My worst was 15.3mpg driving to Custer, SD against a strong west wind. It'll drop into the high teens in winter with 5-10 min. warmups.
Update: I'm back in SD and while heading to Custer, I filled up in Mitchell. with 91 E-0. 19+ mph head/crosswinds with higher gusts and light to moderate rain. I ran 70-80 mph depending on the weather, and the fuel computer showed 13.3. Me and the wife, a cooler and two overnight bags. Filled again in Wall, SD; 16.57g and the fuel range went all the way up to 313mi. I can't imagine what some of these guys out here running 35's on their 12 year old Silverados are getting for milage.

I am almost retired.. All stock Tremor 12K miles I have babied the hell out of it, drove like a madman, tried 93 octane (no difference but better performance) and only saw 21MPG once on a trip. You see my average in my Sig Fuelly, never been able to get that to 18.. I dunno, I think maybe I drive to fast. I gave up and just drive it and enjoy the turbo once in a while...

^-----This right here.
My driving is mixed, I reset the mpg display at every fill-up and normally average 19-20 mpg on a tank of gas. On a highway trip my mpg is the same as yours, 22, I'll do a little better if I keep it under 70 mph, which is rare.
I don't think anything is wrong with your truck, it's just that you do a lot of city driving.
I get slightly better mpg running 89 octane gas, enough that it doesn't really cost more to use than 87. MPG with 93 was no better than 89 though.
Curiously this is the only vehicle I've ever owned that the highway mpg wasn't much different than the average mpg.
