The skid plate in the link looks like the small one in the picture below and is not restricted to the FX4. However, it might only be standard equipment on 4x4 models only.

My non-FX4 XLT 4x4 has that small plate and another, larger one mounted ahead of it. There may be a third one further back but I don’t recall just now.

There’s only 2 skid plates on fx4 models. That offer meager protection also very thin metal but I guess something is better than nothing. The one pictured on the left is stock fx4 and on the right is ARB full protection and all the way back to transmission coving plastic transmission pan. Also metal is way thicker than stock plates. I still have the stock ones you can have them also have left over hardware. Not sure where you are located I live in socal. Definitely not shipping but could meet up. I think the rear plate covers oil pan a little. You can see where fastlane oil change guys drained oil on pan instead of removing pan.

Edit: was thinking about it and there was a third plate. went out and looked in scarp ranger parts and sure enough there’s another plate think it covered transfer case.

The Fastlane crew at my Ford dealerships have been fine except they all refused to check my transmission fluid level...

That's why I bought the FitzStick.

Do my own oil changes now after I used all free ones. Also have ARB skids now. I use valvomax valve easy to use.
I have my new Valvomax valve in place and soon will do my first oil change with it. I am expecting I won't need to remove the stock skid plate, which will knock another 5 minutes off the job. Also got a Lisle oil filter wrench to make it easier to spin off the filter.

Yeah, unfortunately (for some) that "Skid plate" that comes with the FX2 is basically a worthless piece of plastic that will get ripped off of you get too rough off road. As others have pointed out, you can buy Skid plate kits and that's a really good idea if you play hard, though I'm not sure how hard you can play with an FX2. I have an FX2 but she's a pavement princess and I look at the flimsy plastic as a weight saver over the metal ones, cause I'm funny like that. Less weight, more acceleration...or not, lol, it's probably all in my mind anyway ?
