The locking diff is well worth the money, it has got me unstuck 3 times already. Many report the FX4 suspension (same as FX2) bounces even more than the 2WD suspension. You may find you like the 2WD gauge cluster better.
Yup, I went with the 4x2 with Locker instead of a 4x4. Here in Florida it's not needed unless you go off road and I don't do that intentionally! When going gets tough I switch on the locker and get great traction as BOTH rear wheels are driven unlike even a 4x4 where only ONE front and rear wheel is driven.

Yes it will disengage on its own at a certain speed - I don’t remember what that speed is.
I tested my locker this weekend on a dirt road and this what I discovered:
  • Locker stayed locked even after 20 mph when there is a load on the drive line. Ex: During WOT straight line acceleration it stayed locked until I let off at 60 mph.
  • When my speed dropped back down to 20 mph, without a load on the drive line, the rear locked again (without touching the button)
  • Only after pressing the rear locker button did the rear locker stay unlocked.
  • I tried this several times and it acted the same each time.
  • So just be aware if you start off locked and it auto unlocks be aware it will re-lock after you slow back down unless it turned off with the button.

Thanks for the heads up!

Very helpful information, thanks.
