I recently had a couple of issues and was out of warranty. Cost me $2200. They did give me a loaner car though until it was repaired. Decided right quick-like to see if I could still qualify for an extended warranty - and I did! So glad because I plan on keeping this Ranger til the end. I got the 8yr/125,000 mile warranty. Cost me some money, but I would have only paid it once if I had done it up front And avoided a costly repair. Lesson learned (the hard way, as usual).
All that said, I love this truck and there is no replacement for it (to me). :inlove:

Can't be that uncommon though right?
The problem comes down to how expensive the equipment and regrigerant cost. Yes many vehicles are using it now but the cost becomes a different deal all together

With truck resale being so wild right now, I’ve had offers at $6k over what I paid for this thing, so I’d rather dump it and buy something else then deal with something that’s going to give me more problems. For me, these many manufacturing defects under 50k is a bad sign. The slop in the drive line doesnt give me much faith that this truck will go much farther than 100k miles.

Upon stopping I get a clunk coming forward, and then a clunk accelerating. Sometimes stopping downhill I get a BIG thud on downshifts, feels almost like somebody rear ended me. First 5 minutes of driving in the morning there is serious hard shifts and terrible throttle response. It’s like nothing nothing nothing BAM big hit of acceleration. Also the pre-collision goes off randomly like twice a week.

Yeah that isnt the driveline. That is the transmission acting funky and probably needs an update in the PCM. Unfortunately I have to say the 10R80 is a whole different animal of its own with automatic transmissions

I thought I read on here it was $1700 for the heater box replacement.

Depending on the dealer will depend on labor cost alone. Next it has to do with what the labor quoted was.

Sorry to hear your issues. Just dumped a 2018 Canyon that had too many issues for me at 68k miles. Happens to all manufacturers. For me once your confidence in the vehicle is gone it’s time to move on. With the high trade values you can get out and get something else. I drove all the midsize trucks before choosing my Tremor.
Drive a bunch and get something that will make you happy.

Update the PCM, apply all TSB's if you haven't, check the fluid level in the tranny, sounds like it is way low.

Yeah that heater box issue is a nuisance...I just had that issue resolved under warranty for my '19 XLT luckily just under my warranty expiration.

It was quite the procedure so I was told regarding the dash removal and line recharges....about a day and a half in the shop.

The SSM for this issue stated it was to correct the issue for 2019/2020 models built on or before July 30, 2020

Hopefully the issue doesn't re-appear with replacement parts or newer vehicle models.

The warranty repair did resolve my issue, but I have since traded the '19 in on a new '21

Hoping the issue does not reoccur

The problem with moving on is while you'll enjoy a premium price for the ranger you'll pay a premium for what ever you replace it with an inventory/selection is non existent right now for the most part. I have 11 or 12K of warranty left an I'm debating buying the warranty before the 3 year mark. I'll keep an eye on what others are experiencing. I've heard of this problem but no where near as much as the fuel/oil issue.

I did see a video of a guy doing just the blend door actuator on YouTube but it may not be your problem.

I'm wondering if it's going to fail will it fail early on? Will a "faulty" hvac box last 60K then warp?
I doubt they replace a working $1100 part under warranty. Wonder if there's a number of how many go bad. If it's a hundred we're probably good, if it's 2,000 I'm nervous
