I'll chime in on this with my experience. My '21 never had this clunk issue until recently after my center support bearing failed at ~27k km. I had it replaced under warranty and was hopeful it would go away, but it remained.

I assume what you're referring to is what can be felt just at the point of first and last rotations of the driveshaft when starting off or stopping? It's more noticeable with a softer start/stop, which happens to be my driving style, especially stopping. It feels odd, like a worn universal with sloppiness...

That sounds about right…

I placed it into "school zone" mode before coming to a stop and didn't feel the thud. Didn't feel it on take off either. I guess "S" stands for sport, school zone, start and stop now. ?

I would suggest cleaning your lightning port on your phone. You can do this with the end of a paper clip, or a thumb rack or similar. Once you get any lint in there from pockets etc it gums up the works on the comms. You’d be surprised what comes out of there. Go into the corners at an angle and pull upwards. Keep doing it a few times to dislodge the debris.

I too have the slip-bump with my drive line . First time I used the Ford lube kit , it lasted a whole month . Took it to the dealer and they said it was normal and nothing they could do or would do .So I fixed it myself bur at least I now have a paper trail . Last time I used the Amsoil
Synthetic Polymeric Off-Road Grease, NLGI #2
It has worked the best and lasted the longest so far . It has been silky smooth .
I use Amsoil grease as well for my brake jobs and all my power equipment and it's a long lasting grease.
My only question is, what the heck is a Slip joint start/stop bump?

It is the same sensation (feel) of a item in the bed of the truck sliding into the front wall of the bed when you come to a stop.
You will feel this most in the back and bottom of your seat, or the feel of someone kicking the back of your seat.
As far as the actual movement- it’s the driveshaft movement action being thrown forward, similar to a battering ram.
My 22 with 7,000 miles has experience this a few times , not noted as anything extreme but enough to draw attention to it.
The only thing I can come up with that the lube will do is to create a friction in the splines to slow the movement down so it’s not as noticeable.

Guys,I have to say I really like this truck but I do have two issues that my dealer just can't seem to resolve. My dealer has always treated me well, but I'm getting a bit weary.First issue:Carplay/Sync.Ford has just never been able to get this Sync thing right even after several versions.Mine sees my iPhone at times and at times not.My settings change by themselves and mostly when I restart the truck it will not default to the last audio option but will pick whatever it seems to feel like for me to listen to.This Friday will be my sixth visit to the dealer and this time they will be replacing some cable they ordered. They replaced several parts already and re-installed the latest update several times.Last time someone deleted my Sirius altogether and it does not appear anymore.Second issue: Slip joint start/stop bump. This will be the second visit for this one.First time they lubed the slip joint and seemed to be fixed, but after two weeks,it came back.I looked under the truck and saw grease that was plug all over and found that the boot was re-installed with only one clamp. So,this Friday I'll be hoping for a little good luck although my hopes are really not very high
You might try resetting your iphone network settings. I have had to do this once and it cured all my issues.

So today I bring the truck to the dealer to have my Sirius XM fixed since it somehow disappeared after they attempted to unsuccessfully repair my CarPlay. This has been the seventh time they say they changed parts but nothing has worked. Also, they told me they would lube my driveshaft slip joint and install new boot, they did this last month but the grease got flung out.The second new boot arrived after over a week's wait.Well when I picked up the truck they told me they ordered the wrong boot and they have no clue what has happened to my Sirius. So truck in shop all day and absolutely nothing repaired. However,I now have a rattle in my dash

My 2020 2WD Lariat jerks hard when I place it in reverse or drive, but very seldom. It currently has only 14,891 miles. It does this even on flat ground when it was not parked under stress. Is this the issue you are speaking of?

Oh, and I am an old geezer to. I worked in ECM on F4's (on the AN/ALQ ECM-119 pod) at Udorn RTAFB.

seconding this one. i used an old USB cable to connect my iphone and it is ever so slightly damaged on one of the contact pads for the lightning connection. this side must ALWAYS be facing down (away from the screen) or the ranger's carplay ability won't see it. it is hands down the most finnicky carplay system i've ever used, but the moment i use a new/better cable all the issues vanish. so i'd give this a try.

i've never tried it, but there are a few people i've read on this forum who are adamant that changing out the fluid in their front/rear diffs completely resolved any bumpiness. so.. i can't confirm, but maybe look around and see if you can find those posts so you can judge for yourself.

stinky that you gotta deal with that stuff, tho
I used a wireless Carplay, i enjoyed the wireless connections. You can get it from Amazon, i also installed a wireless charger best way to enjoy music without connections.

I also use a CarPlay wireless adapter and 98% of the time it’s flawless. The convenience of not having to plug it in is well worth the $100.00 it cost me in 2020. Every now and then it gets a little goofy and will not connect and I need to unplug for a bit to reset it. I believe that to be an issue with the Cplay2air adapter, not the truck. I do plug it in on long trips to stay charged since I use the phone for navigation.
