I use bluetooth for my phone to play music or Sirius the majority of the time, with FM radio rarely. If it's phone music when I get out of the truck, it goes back to phone music about half the time when I get back in, the other ~half it goes to Sirius, occasionally it goes to FM. I've tried a few different things, but there doesn't seem to be any control factors as to why, just seems to be random. It's mildly annoying, but not so much that I'm willing to let the dealer fk with it. Three quick button pushes with my thumb on the steering wheel and I'm where ever I want to be.

The only time I connect my phone by wire to the truck is if I'm using GPS because apple maps is far better than Ford navigation, or on the rare occasion I need to charge in the truck.

+1 on the Apple Nav. I have a charging adapter in my cigarette lighter for normal charging, and when I need to GPS, I just move the cable to the USB port and go through Apple CarPlay. Just works better.

Regarding the random selection of sound sources, I am normally listening to audio from a USB stick plugged into a port, but I used to get random source selection when I turn it off before turning off the truck. If I leave it playing and turn off the truck, it shuts off when I get out, and when I get back in, it USUALLY selects the USB again and resumes from where it was.

But I think they have some sort of deal going to promote Sirius XM, because if I was listening to the radio, it VERY frequently starts up with Sirius. I don't subscribe, so I get an ADVERTISEMENT. Bothersome.

Then I have to dig through touch screens to select a different source. Which, by the way, disappear when you mute the stereo. Awful User Experience. You have to endure listening to it while you select a different source. I'm an engineer, and I like simple analog switches to select the source, run the AC, etc. It is dangerously distracting to USE a touchscreen while you are driving. You CAN'T do it by feel and keep your eyes on the road. Should be illegal.

I use the steering wheel controls and right info screen on my dash for radio/entertainment changes, very easy and convenient. Maybe it's a Lariat thing, or tech package, I'm not sure, but love it. and don't have to look. Left, down 1 for FM, down 2 for Siruis, down 3 for iPhone, OK button and done. Volume is just below that cluster.

My touch screen lives on Climate control 90% of the time (unless I'm using GPS) and disagree about it being dangerous. Agreed it's not as tactile as traditional independent controls, but just like glancing at your mirrors for a few seconds every now and then, I don't find it overly dangerous.

Admittedly, being a commercial driver for many decades, I regularly drive different vehicles and regularly have to look at various controls to use them. Some trucks will have 40 dash switches, that are all basically the same. Many are labelled on the touch section and after a few years fade away, so you can't read them. It sometimes takes 3 or 4 glances at the cluster just to find the switch I am looking for, then another look to reach for and toggle it. Then add a computerized granular and liquid spreader system, and 5 lever plough control valve body. Driving one dedicated vehicle all the time, you develop muscle memory and can use many controls without looking (like my steering wheel music or cruise control) but being able to take your view away from the road ahead safely and responsibly should be a core skill, and is an essential part of driving IMO.

Guys,I have to say I really like this truck but I do have two issues that my dealer just can't seem to resolve. My dealer has always treated me well, but I'm getting a bit weary.First issue:Carplay/Sync.Ford has just never been able to get this Sync thing right even after several versions.Mine sees my iPhone at times and at times not.My settings change by themselves and mostly when I restart the truck it will not default to the last audio option but will pick whatever it seems to feel like for me to listen to.This Friday will be my sixth visit to the dealer and this time they will be replacing some cable they ordered. They replaced several parts already and re-installed the latest update several times.Last time someone deleted my Sirius altogether and it does not appear anymore.Second issue: Slip joint start/stop bump. This will be the second visit for this one.First time they lubed the slip joint and seemed to be fixed, but after two weeks,it came back.I looked under the truck and saw grease that was plug all over and found that the boot was re-installed with only one clamp. So,this Friday I'll be hoping for a little good luck although my hopes are really not very high
Try a Wireless adapter for Carplay?

It might work but they have issues also.Point is, what we paid for is supposed to work and work properly. We shouldn't have to pay more money to fix something that's we paid for and is supposed to work

I ended up switching to a wireless adapter. Like others have stated most of the time it'll start playing from the last used source. Usually if I'm starting it up in the garage it'll go to FM. Before it was almost always Sirius from the garage.

I do like having physical buttons. Easier to find without taking my eyes off the road.
