Believe it or not but I still use an old 3 way absorption unit. Silent and no moving parts. When we are away with the caravan (trailer) if we are in a park I just plug it into the 240 volt, if we are off grid I plug it into the gas bayonet on the caravan, or use a small propane cylinder. Works well in all but the very hottest weather. When it dies I suppose I'll have to join the 21st century however, as no one makes them any more apart from built in caravan units.

UPDATE:

After receiving my ICECO GO20 and my Bluetti EB55 power station, I fully charged the Bluetti and cooled the ICECO for a test in my home.

With the ICECO GO20 configured as only a fridge (with the freezer divider out) and fully cooled, I plugged it into the Bluetti with 100% charge. I put a 6 pack of cold beer in it along with 9 cans of Pepsi that were not cold, so the fridge had to work a little harder to cool these off. I checked back in 2 hours, and everything was cold as expected.

I have the fridge beside my desk at home, and I opened and closed it a few times to simulate usage (I also drank a couple of the beers and Pepsi.)

The Bluetti finally ran out of power after 47 hours. Not bad at all. Although the fridge might have to work harder in outdoor conditions (my office is between 75F and 80F), I have no doubt it would work for a full overnight and day without a charge.

My question for the experts (looking at you @AzScorpion) is how fast can the Ranger fully charge the Bluetti while running the fridge on the pass through charging? In other words, how many hours of driving (or running) the truck are needed?

Mark, I never had the chance to try the pass through charging on our trip. The EB55 would run my cooler (Setpower RV45/47 qt) all day in upper 90 degree weather and only used 40%. Inside the cab was well over 100 while it was sitting in the sun all day so it was impressive how little these fridges draw for power.

I would charge to back at the hotel each night but I'll try it out when my TC35 gets here tomorrow. The only thing I don't know is will the 110 outlet support the draw of the EB55? I guess worse case it'll just blow a fuse so I run a test in the next few days as my EB55 is down to 1 bar (20%) now.

I think we’re getting bent over pretty hard in Canada when it comes to 12V Coolers.

That's crazy. The TC 20 was just on sale for $189 here and I bought the larger TC 35 for $255. Time to move back to Buckeye Duke. :like:

I suppose I could run one off of the 12V on the dash and one off of the 12V or 110 outlet in the back instead of using the pass through.

From reviews I’ve read it will charge in a little over 3 hours on 110 or 24V, which is not bad at all, but I’m guessing it would be twice as long on 12V perhaps?

I had a raw flagstone prep area beside the grill in my outdoor kitchen in Verrado. An LA Dodgers coach rented my place for Spring Training and placed a greasy spatula on it and left a big oily stain - I was pissed of course, but when I came back in a few months, it was so hot, it had evaporated the grease stain - whaaaaat? ????
Yes, AZ sun evaporates grease!

I know it charges really quick from the house outlet. I ran mine dead when I first got it and IIRC it was charged to 100% in 2.5 hours. Now I wish I tried it while we were away because there were days I was driving for 5-6 hours and it would've been a good test.

Check Wayfair. That’s where I purchased my Iceco this winter.
Thanks Dan, I’ll check it out - tired of having half the cooler taken up by ice packs and wouldn’t mind a good 12V alternative. ?

I was using a Yeti Tundra 105, switched to the Iceco VL60. Was surprised when I opened it and the cover was included (not mentioned in the description at the time). A little smaller inside. Ice doesn’t take up 1/3 the space. The fact I can keep things frozen, dry, and not buried in ice is also nice. We do use the smaller side as a freezer and that has been tough on the Bluetti AC50S. Considering the EB55, or the EB70 for another $60.

The mint green eb70s is on sale also for 499 instead of 569. Plus you can add an id.me discount for military first responders etc, or the Jason id website coupon code work also.

It was $449 last week on the Prime Deals day which is the best price I've seen in a few years. I just bought the EB55 for $399 (Amazon had a $100 off instant coupon) but I'd have bought the EB70 in a heartbeat for that price.
