Contacted the dealer today. They can not even look at it until next week. I tell ya, all this garbage of shortages and stuff makes me just want to move off the grid, use horses and cattle. Go old school, like really old school and forget all this mess.
That stinks but luckily you only have to wait until next week. When I called to have the look at the HVAC blend door they wanted me to drop it off for 7-10 days just to looks at it. Then they said it would be another week or two to fix it IF they could get the parts. Hopefully it's nothing to serious and they can get it in and fix it right away.

You haven't got a truck to move off the grid. Your realtor can't list your house because their MLS system is down and the IT is booked into next year. The horse you want to buy has a stop sale on it because the veterinarian can't go examine it because his Ranger is waiting for parts.

Once they have the new housing, and the tech assigned, it can be done in less than a day. Mine was, anyway.

Others have said the same it's a 1 day job. But for some reason this is what the new service manager told me at Peoria Ford. I guess this is the only guy working on the vehicles now.

That’s if they can get the parts in and find someone to come in a work.

there was a news article with photos a short time back regards some double decker outhouses that have been preserved for posterity - I think one was in Crested Butte CO . Don't think I'd want to occupy the bottom throne though.

Well others have reported failures ? Ford had a lot of issues with this setup on their earlier powerstrokes and over time engines that employ these types of oil to coolant heat exchangers (not those on a radiators but sometimes mounted in the valley of a v6 or v8) . Just mentioning the latest rendition of the egr as an example how complex ice have become, more complexity= more failures. Just to get exhaust gases back into the combustion stream effectively now requires a dozen or so bits and pieces. with exhaust gas being what it is - hot and dirty - it's going to eventually cause issues.

"What is the exhaust gas cooler?" A device that probably will cause some degree of heartburn over time, yrs back when egr valves were employed they were often simplistic devices, actuated by engine vacuum tied to throttle position. They were problematic then but it was mostly from the valve accumulating exhaust crud. Now fast forward and you have a complex egr system - replete with circulating engine coolant, 2 sensors, an egr valve itself and numerous hoses. But we are saving the planet. Im pretty certain an EV doesn't need an egr system, just a battery and an electric motor.
And battery cooling, and battery coolant pump(s), and a battery coolant valve(s), and a coolant temp sensor...

re:
I wonder if Ford & others have a "Circuit Tech" program in some parts of the country? Specialty techs that are dispatched to a shop for certain fixes, like how the heavy machinery industry does?

Or maybe the Service Manager 'druther not tie up a bay for a whole day for a low profit warranty job

I guess I have an answer for my “egr issue”. My appointment is Tuesday, but yesterday the check engine light just went out. Maybe it needed time to clear up the senor alert, maybe the bulb burned out, I don't know but for now I am canceling the appointment till a more convenient time.
I hope this story ends with a fizzle and not my engine falling out of the truck.

If you can make it I'd still go have them check it out on Tuesday. As you know appointments are hard to get now and if it comes back on or something were to happen again it could be even longer waiting for another one. Hopefully it was nothing but I know I'd feel better having it looked at. Good luck.

10-4. if the egr was just at the threshold to trip its sending unit, the system likely cleared itself, having no future events. but the egr may be malfunctioning, or start again. Hopefully it stored a previous code for a tech to see. Keep an eye on your coolant level in the meantime. If it is going down with no external leaks, bring it in even if there is no ck eng or lo coolant lights.

That’s my plan. It could not have happened at a more inconvenient time. We are in the middle of a move from South Alabama to Central, Louisiana. I can’t take it to the dealer at home and wait 2 weeks nor can I take to the dealer here in Baton Rouge for two weeks and wait. We sold our house in one day, had to buy one before the wife could come see it, very risky I know. But, we have to have some place to put our stuff when we move….anyone want a cat?
It will work out, but the timing was just bad to take it in to the dealer. And we received a recall notice on my wife’s 17’ Escape for a transmission bushing or something. It sounds like one of those where they will keep your car for “safety” reasons but in reality it is liability reasons. It will have to wait for the move to be completed too.
