when i was looking at the data from pro cal mine seemed to run about 210 for casual sunday driving. I dont know if thats how for a transmission or not? something about the ULV fluid seems odd to me. I thought viscosity was a "good" thing lol.
I haven't looked at the oil cooler closely, but if has engine coolant as part of that cooling system, the transmission fluid will generally match engine temp.

The Colorado ZR2 I had before the Ranger had an independent transmission cooler with no engine coolant as part of that system and my fluid rarely got over 160 degrees Fahrenheit.

I know a lot of people claim they have no issues with this transmission, but I wonder if that's just because they don't really realize what's going on. Because this seems to be a nearly universal issue with these.
I think they get used to the querks...

Drive it like you stole it.

I did 110mph and never even hit 10th gear!!!

Wth
It won't hit 10th at that speed, 10th is like an overdrive gear. Mine was in 9th too and I was cruising 2-3 miles on a flat highway.

Almost every comment has a horror story to tell. Plus it looks like they really should have a larger oil pan on the older Gens like ours.

Problem #5 - The Oil Pan

As an expensive 10 speed transmission, it is exceptionally important to maintain low oil temperatures to preserve the longevity of the transmission. From the factory, the OEM saves money by stamping the oil pan out of thin steel using a mold and a special tool to provide accurate shape. This is never optimal, but certainly does not endorse a healthy transmission for heavy duty applications or long term use.

In fact, the OEM oil pan is so lacking in volume that a variety of transmission pan manufactures have added in excess of a gallon to the oil volume of this transmission. Due to the obvious nature of this upgrade, it is standard on ALL Next Gen Drivetrain 10R80 transmissions to contain a cast aluminum deep pan. Expect cooler AOT (average operating temperature) with our built 10R80 transmissions.

If I'm not mistaken, 7 is a 1-1 drive and 8-10 are all overdrive gears.....

You were tooling right along, Dave!

The Karen in my truck is basically used toilet paper. did the 500 miles after the pcm update and valve body service. exact issues as before except not the same gears. worse on down shifts now no matter what mode or how you drive. feel every single gear slowing down and two of the ten feel like you hit a pot hole. remember when transmissions didnt have to learn anything and didnt need to be hand held or tit ragged along... you just drove the vehicle and the transmission did its thing. i likely would get rid of the truck except now im stuck. thanks to inflation and political destruction even with my truck half paid off and being worth more than i paid for it, i cannot sell it and afford anything else i wanna drive without going into debt and nearly double the interest rate. thanks ford thanks uncle sam lol.

Sounds like everyone is going to expect to have the same fate as mine once the mileage accumulates...

Mines been at dealer a week now. Told me it would be a few days before it was looked at when I dropped it off. Didn’t have anyone available to do the ride along. They drove it 8 miles yesterday but haven’t heard anything back. I hate to do a trade in and I’m guessing I’d loose 3-4k or so but I refuse to pursue these issues too much longer. It’s a truck with 6000 miles and I’ve got too many other things going on right now. Maybe I’d pick up a used Tacoma or something with what I had originally put down on this truck. Time will tell. The economy definitely makes me want to keep this truck and I do really like the truck overall. It’ll just depend on how burned out I get pursuing these issues.

same here. i like the truck. but cannot trust or enjoy it with transmission issues. im stuck in mine either way lol cant afford to get out of it. so im guessing at some point in the future hopefully not when im in the middle no place alone- karen will go full retard and hopefully im still in warranty. in a twisted way i kinda wish it would grenade thursday on my way to discount tire lol then i could get it back to dealer and be rebuilt.
