So this happened this weekend.
My 2019 turned hit a new milestone. So far no major issues or problems, only needed regular oil changes, new brakes, tires, battery and a couple of air filters. Still enjoy driving my Ranger everyday.

Sounds like you got a solid 2019 Joel! Many years left before I would ever hit 100k as I am in the 34k area.

You being entirely honest? Common knowledge says our transmissions ALL self destruct at or before 90,000 miles. ???

Haha- true! There are many that believe there is a timer that blows up your tranny at 100,000 miles! They must have screwed up at the factory on his.

I know right...now that I have said how good mine has been, it will most likely fall apart.
And I forgot, I did put new shocks on the rear last month. It does ride better now with the Bilsteins on the back.

Yeah I'm not buying it. Guy didn't even mention 30k miles trans fluid changes!

I just hit 90k and I'm certain it's going to fail any minute now

Unjoking: I will be doing a fluid change soon. Not dropping the pan, just pumping out old and adding in the new. Then dropping the pan and replacing the filter at 150k per the manual. Excited to see what I find!

45K miles here, and the last time I was at the dealer getting the oil changed+tires rotated I chatted with the service guys at length. One had the performance version Explorer with the first 10R80 and had his tranny swapped out due to failure. He recommended the changing of the fluid as well without dropping the pan and replacing the filter as the most practical service value. When I floated the idea of the aftermarket replacement pan he claimed it would void any warranty protection which I found discouraging.

If I had no warranty and was faced with repairing the transmission I'd go all in on upgraded parts. Even if it cost eight grand I couldn't get as nice a truck at this point. I'd just be righteously peeved.

I was wondering about when/if I should change the transmission fluid. I have never done this before in any vehicle. Is it a simple pump it out and replace the fluid?

Ok so I have a whopping 21K on my 2020, BUT had a transmission failure at less than 3000 miles and they had to replace the valve body as there were issues (solenoid stuck, something else...not sure if there was more to it). I had a fluid change then of course. That said, when do you think I'll need to worry about mine again? Am hoping my failure early in the game means I'm good from here on out...but if I'm going to have a real failure later, I definitely want to try and avoid it if I can.

I can only recommend you follow the manufacturer service schedule. Anything outside of that is extra. Changing fluid technically shouldn't hurt anything except your wallet. There are many many threads on the process on this site and a couple videos on YT to show you how to do it.

I'm changing fluid at 100k miles just for science. No real reason to do it beyond curiosity. This will just be a pump out, then put the same amount of fresh fluid back in. No pan removal or filter change. I believe the service manual has no service required until the full pan drop with filter replacement at 150k miles.

Congrats! I hope to cross that threshold in a few years with no dramas. You have the same average mpg as I do with 50lb 32" AT and a 3" lift.

Mine is just a stock Lariat, new rear shocks and the ASS turned off. On the Highway I do get a little better.
