I should've looked at the sticky first.

Item #28: Removed differential drain plug.

That must've saved them in the tens of cents on each truck :mad:

It's better to pull the cover and clean all the wear debris out of the dif when you change fluid.
Otherwise all that crap continues to circulate through the gears and bearings.

The diff drain plug isn't gone, just relocated.

Unless this was another "cost down" casualty.

Is this missing on the later trucks?

Otherwise all that crap continues to circulate through the gears and bearings.
I was annoyed about the missing plug until I thought about it like that. Also the gasket is cheap enough.

GM Spent millions upon millions of dollars in warranty claims to save $2 on a torque converter. :)

I've never been a fan of Salisbury diffs. Every single one I've owned has always whined.

Yep, ridiculous to eliminate it.....would be real handy to have one instead of removing the cover!
