I’ve look at maintenance schedule and it does not give a mileage point to change the transmission filter and fluid. When should this be done and what should I expect this to cost at a ford dealership? Thanks in advance for your advice.

Opinions will vary.

Ford calls for a 150k change. In my opinion that is WAY too long to go.

I use a much more agressive schedule, but for someone wanting to do something more resonable.

Drain and fill at 30k

New filter and fill at 60k

Repeat.

And no, I don't believe Ford knows best.

Ford knows what will get them out of warranty with 'the lowest cost of ownership'

These 10R80's are complicated beasts, yes they use a good filter and yes the ULV fluid is a stout fluid....that doesn't doesn't mean there aren't a ton of seals in the trans that can use refreshed additives, that doesn't mean there still aren't wear particles floating around that are better out than in.

My '19 has 42K now. I was planning on waiting until 50K to do the drain, filter change and new fluid.
I was going to toss the plastic pan and get the aluminum PPE one.

I've had a couple rough shifts the last few weeks so might end up doing the service sooner.
It could just be that the fluid level is getting low.
I can't imagine driving to 150K before a service, but many do just that.

I haven't priced what the dealer would charge, I'll do the work myself like I did with my F-150 and Escape.

I replaced mine at 49,000 miles. I personally would not wait 150,000. The dealership that did mine yesterday said the fluid was black. I used to work for a Ford dealer & I'm big on maintenance. You can never change fluids too early. Good preventive maintenance. I like to do mine between 30,000 & 50,000. It may be overkill but it's always good having fresh clean fluid. I also change my motor oil every 5,000 miles full synthetic.

For your information

Its a pricey upgrade even if you diy, not impressed with OEM
pan, where they put 19 mm dipstick cover, and firewall access
grommet behind ABS brake module/piping.

PPE high capacity pan+ 1 1/2 Qts ULV fluid $339
Ford 10R80 filter $40
Pan gasket just in case not used $40
Filter seal $2.50
ULV fluid $7 Qt
12V fluid pump $26
tax and shipping on some item depending on source, shop
Amazon, stage3Motorsport, Carid., goggle search each item and go from there.

IMO, if you can change your own oil, you have enough skill to
drop pan, R & R filter, install new or your plastic pan.

good luck, do not over tighten 8 mm & 13 mm stud bolts, the filter O ring, and pan are reusable at least once.

Planning on the PPE pan swap in the future, around 12-15,ooo miles.
Followed your posts about the swap, and I plan on doing it in the garage...
Question...since I do not plan on ever swapping the OE pan back, I think I'm just gonna drill a 1 inch hole in the low area of the plastic pan to drain fluid...should get almost all out, and saves me from having to buy a pump....
Sound OK ?

If the fluid was that dark, did they tell you how much debris was stuck to the magnet in the bottom of the transmission pan?

I'd probably be looking for an extended warranty asap given what you noted the dealership told you. I've changed a lot of transmission fluid over the years and never encountered dark fluid in something with just 50k miles on it.

I'd ask them to show me the fluid, being the mistrustful type, or make it a youtube vid of it like the jello engine oil.

Mercon LV/ULV starts to darken after a few heat cycles. That's why there's no color chart for the newer low viscosity fluids. Dark ULV doesn't mean it's bad.

Don’t see any problem with that, expect +5 Qts to come out.

I do the exact same thing. I have done it for all my vehicles. I mean I do not have transmissions rebuilt and I treat them poorly at time so it works for me.

To be fair, the 30k thing isn't what I actually do, I'm far more aggressive. I just feel 30k drain and fills are reasonable.

I vacuum out the pan, which is usually about 4-5 qts, and refill every 10k. So I change a little less fluid more often.

When I finally do the ppe shallow pan I will probably go to 20k drain/fill since I'll be getting more out.

I bought my '19 Ranger in March with 30k on it. Changed all the driveline fluids the week I bought it. Judging from the amount of metal dust in both diffs, transfer case, and transmission, I'd say change them all at 2000 then 5000, then start listening to what the owners manual says.
