Because then he’d have to buy FORscan...?

The program is free??
Lifetime support is only $50 bucks

And then you have total access.

So, I was reading up on CAFE ratings to educate myself. I'm not so sure if the makers are forced into numbers or if there are just financial penalties. But the one thing that caught my eye was the 2025 agreement to reach 54 mpg mileage in cars and light trucks. There is no F'n way. Trucks as we know them are going to go away if that's the case. To "balance the scales" makers will have to sell more cars, and those cars will have to be electric or get 60-70 mpg. And Ford announced a while back they are ending production of all cars except for the Mustang I think. So now is that going to work out? (maybe we need a different thread for this discussion)
Don't worry, if cooler heads prevail 54MPG CAFE will be repealed, reduced, or delayed.

A Democrat will get in the office and soon we'll all be driving Tesla Cybertrucks.

Everyone keep your old trucks running well, they are going to be worth more when the new trucks are choking to death trying to get good mileage and emissions. Or maybe on new trucks, an ECU flash gives a 100% power increase. :like: These days, in the motorcycle world, an ECU flash on a stock ZX10R increases power at redline by 40 hp.

I am paying for the technology so I use it even though the stop start does break down at times as long as the company fixes the problem that's all that matters.
Now my 1500 Ram has a 48 volt battery that handles the stop start and helps with other things as well, the mpg is 17 to 20 in town driving when the old ones got 10 to 13 in town orrrr what ever. That battery has an 8 year 80000 mile warranty on it and the generator that goes with it has the same under the emissions warranty when the e-torque is on the 5.7 hemi 2019 and newer.
The technology is so much better in the these new vehicle engines than 40 or 50 years ago it not even funny but the prices have also increased by thousands upon thousands of dollars too
My new Ranger is so much better than the 1987 and the 2010 one I owned its not even funny, I luv it and every thing about it ,so far.
Happy new year!

It's easy to turn off, with forscan
$3.00 led nightlite is cheaper, easier and instantly reverseable!
.
That's exactly what I did too. I'm not messing with ForScan, with my luck I'll have stuff disabled that shouldn't be and other stuff flashing and blinking. lol I know you can back everything up but I still don't like taking the chance.

Yeah I tried that in my 19 Lariat, it only works for one stop. I tried even bigger loads, it don't work very long.
Forscan is so simple, and the yellow warning light they say comes on, on the dash when you stop, doesn't. It's perfect?
Takes longer to plug the laptop in, then it take to change it. Also there are more items that you can change that are great.

I just spent 5 weeks on a trip with my STX, towing my Scamp and spending a lot of time behind the wheel, both towing and not.
I discovered that by modifying my driving technique in traffic that I could actually control whether the engine would stop at traffic stops.
In fact, light pedal pressure all the way to a stop would result in the engine continuing to run, while at any time I could increase pedal pressure while stopped and induce the engine to stop.
In fact it would even restart by lifting the pedal slightly while still holding the truck stationary.
The truck performed so well on this trip that I was able to consistently get better than Highway rating fuel economy while driving around Naples and Marcos Island.
A little experimentation has resulted in much better drivability experience...
This thing has a whole different personality than anything else I have ever driven.

Has anybody thought about the implications of start/stop on the life of the turbo?

I've always been told to let the engine idle for 30 seconds before shutting down so the turbo could slow down before having its oil supply cut off. With start/stop it's very possible to have the situation where you go from a high throttle to shutoff very quickly.

Yeah, they last at least 5 years so you must be a really slow driver or you got really lost! LOL!
