Today I noticed that my Start/Stop feature was not working.
It was on, in drive, no A/C, no trailer connection, engine warmed up.
Ambient temperature was 42°F.
I did not have the heat turned up.

Does the Start/Stop feature require a minimum cabin temperature to activate?
Am I missing something?

Hi Floyd,

Yep! You did not meet the adult minimum daily requirements for your Ranger to engage Stop/Start!

Wish I could answer with certainty but I've noticed that the start stop is pretty selective when it operates for me as well. During short trips, up to a mile, it might activate on one or two of the five stops. Warm engine or not.

I think there is a time delay between the start stop function activation.

If your AC or Heater is running to bring your cabin up to or down to set temperature it won’t kick in.

If the wheel is turned, auto start/stop won't activate. To see why it is not activated, you can see the reason in the Fuel Economy menu.

Why are you coming to a stop with the wheel turned?

Plug an LED nightlight into the 110 AC outlet in the Rear console area. I did that a couple months ago and S/S hasn’t kicked in since!
I have a LED in mine too. It just seems like there are a few who have had theirs stop working and like the feature where I hate it and mine works. :explode:

It wouldn't be so bad with a little longer delay. Where I live I have to stop 3 times in 1/2 mile just to get out of my community to the main road,it's annoying having it always shut off so quick. I tried braking lighter as someone suggested but it still shuts down.

I’ve found quite often that when mine doesn’t shut down the menu says it’s due to the truck charging.

mine says that all the time. I’m pretty sure that’s the truck equivalent of “because reasons.”

I see that one a lot. 8 mile drive to work On city streets and it rarely shuts off now. Drive a couple miles on the freeway and it’s back for awhile.

I’m wondering if it’s really low on charge. 8 miles on city streets should be enough to keep it topped off.
