Belt Tensioner SNAPPED OFF

Yes, same pully and belt. The ranger pully is a tiny bit bigger. I have been running it for 200+ miles. So far, no issues. I did this to prevent the front cover breakage. Also, I have an Escape that I borrowed parts from.

It's the same part. Rock Auto lists the BT-114 and for less money. Should get the bolts also.
So Ford already had a better design and chose not to use it for some reason...

When my warranty is up, this looks like a smart move ... (I also thought lubing my slip joint was a smart move and that didn't and still hasn't gone well)

It also appears that a 2018 Escape had a far less destructive cooling fan that may not take out wiring harnesses if it fails...

Based up the answers to the above questions, I may preemptively install one.
My thoughts exactly . Rock Auto has the assy for like $74 and a couple of bolts. Preventative medicine

Does this Escape tensioner assembly fit if the front cover is not broken or the old mounting boss removed from the cover? Does the belt shield fit over the replacement pulley?

My front cover is not broken so yes, it fits. Belt cover bolt holes are used with the escape idler. For what it's worth, the escape does not use a cover over the tensioner.

I just checked the pulley size at Rock Auto for both the Ranger and a Escape from the different manufacturers. All of manufacturers were within 67mm to 70mm for each model (Ranger and Escape). Ford didn't list the spec.

Basically they are interchangeable from a size perspective. Those who specified an AC model all were 70mm. Litens (Chinese made) had an AC version and a non AC version.

Continental was selling the Litens brand for the Escape, but the Ranger specific ones were made in Canada.

Gates Ranger model was made in Canada. Escape in Mexico.

Ford and ACDelco don't specify, and there are no markings on the castings like other masnufacturers.

Get the AC part if you want exactly the same size. Or the DAYCO 89740

Careful now. If you take this off it might not go on again. Might have to order a new engine.

Careful now. If you take this off it might not go on again. Might have to order a new engine.
Probably just a new front cover at most... but once a few people succeed, I'll swoop in and show how not to do it...

What is this belt shield that you speak of? My 2022 doesn’t seem to have any type of shield. Another deleted item?

I wonder if one was to use a Ford part instead of aftermarket, would that void any warranty? Would they even notice the extra bolt or care ? Im comfortable denying i ever touched it and i guesd it came that way...
