I drove the Ranger to a modelfest to display some of my models. I got a 1st and 2nd in the truck category and a 2nd and 3rd in the stock car category. It’s the first time I’ve ever shown any models.

Nice work Chuck!

Mrs. DukeCanBuildit bought me this for Christmas.

When I told her I would have to figure out appropriate paint and assembly areas, watch a lot of YouTube videos and buy some model building supplies, she said, “Oh, I thought it all just snapped together.”

Bless her heart.

Are you painting on your wipers, handles, etc. or using a silver Sharpie?

Very cool!! I was big in to models when I was younger. My favorite thing to do was take 2 or 3 different models and mash them up. I Made a pro street Grand National once from 2 different kits, it was my favorite build. I'll see if I can find a pic or 2.

Well today I will park it in the barn. Significant because ? It may be there for a while. I will be checking in to the hospital for some major back surgery. They go in from the front to remove and replace the lower four disks. It takes two surgeons, one vascular to move things out of the way, and a neurosurgeon to do the spine work. Next day they open from the back to install pins and screws to fuse the vertebrae. 🥴 I will admit to being a little apprehensive, but the pain and lack of mobility leave me no better option. Wish me luck.
My recovery goal is a beach trip in mid April. 🌴🌴 🦞That may be a little optimistic, (doc said 3 to 6 months) but that goal will help me work through the rehab.
Just checking in with you Gregg to see how your surgery went? Hope all is well and everything went smoothly for you.

Oh, don't worry about your Ranger it's just fine. Mrs Gfitz let me in to your barn over the weekend and I installed a few parts on your tailgate to help you out a little bit.o_O Also, Me being a good friend I brought your Mustang back with me to AZ because it looked really cold and lonely tucked way back in the corner. Don't worry I didn't drive it Annie did. She had fun learning how to drive a stick (first time ever!) and got the hang of it by the time we were in New Mexico. There was a dent in the right rear corner wasn't there?

Duke, I use a Liquid Chrome, paint pen from MOLOTOW. They make a 1mm tip and a 2mm tip. The effect is very good.

Thanks Chuck. I’ll check it out.

After watching some YouTube videos, I am hoping to do as much trim as I can as well as the instrument cluster, window cranks, etc.

It really is inspiring to see such attention to detail such as you’ve shown us here as well as that from other builders I’ve seen online.

Thanks again.

Those are cool!
The Nova with the tunnel ram intake has some Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins vibes to it. Excellent detail work.

Thanks for asking. Main thing is I survived about 7 hrs on the surgery table. The doctors said it went well. For the first few days I felt like I had been hit by a Mack truck. Next was a trip to a rehab place. I am improving daily learning to live with fused vertebrae. Heading home Thursday.

Learning to drive a stick on a mach 1 is like putting a person that has never ridden a horse on a horse that has never been ridden. There is going to be a show😅

I hope to get back to driving a manual by spring so I'm going to need the steed to satisfy my need for speed. 😅😅

Glad to hear you're doing well and little by little you'll be as good as new. I'm sure you're looking forward to some R&R on the beach in the spring . ⛱

I think she finally got the hang of it! But you're right, it's like riding a bucking Bronco. Speaking of bucking the transmission was like that when we took it.

Glad you're on the mend! Prayers for continued recovery and improvement. The right rehab hospital can be a blessing. I spent two weeks at the one in my town after getting IVIG treatment for Guillain-Barre Syndrome a year ago. Take care of that back! Driving that Mach I would be incentive for me!! 😁

Thanks. Today is my last day at rehab they have been very helpful.
You are right, driving the Mach 1 is a great incentive, especially if I can drive it to a beach ⛱
