I posted this before but usually those serp belt pulleys can be cleaned and regreased and I will do so at some point. With the Saab 9-5s I owned maintenance scheduled called for pulley replacements at 60k miles, but I would regrease them, also not a bad idea to check the tensioner itself for visible signs of weakening tension - if weak can create irregular movements, straining the assembly.I don’t even qualify as the (ex) in “expert” here but I wonder if the idler bearing locked up and caused the housing to shear off?
