I bought a DPFE sensor earlier this year and put it on the "I'll get to it sooner or later" shelf. Well, noticing a couple of minor quirks lately, not sure if it's the cold or what, but it always had a quirk or two. Now its cold as f*** outside, should have replaced that sensor sooner.

Obviously it’s not a magic cure for all the reported transmission problems, but it sure improved mine’s behavior. It is a pain in the butt to reach the tubing connections; if only the hood opened another inch!

I bought one of the very first Tacomas to come out in 1995. It was a beautiful cobalt blue, V6, five speed loaded. It was the biggest POS I ever owned and had nothing but problems eventually taking a $4000 loss to get rid of it.
Funny that you mentioned a Maverick Tremor, is that there is always one at Cracker Barrel in Sherman where Dad and I go out to eat every now and then. I guess it belongs to someone who works there.
The Maverick Tremor is what I’m looking at to get for my mom. Her little escape is falling apart at 240k miles.. she doesn’t want a suv or a car.. wants a truck, however my dad has severe mobility issues and the vehicle needs to be at a sweet spot height so he can get in and out of it.. (a ranger at stock height is just too high.).. my mom sat in my wife’s step dads 2025 xlt fx4 maverick and said ok I like this… I have a ranger tremor and thought it would be cool to get her a maverick tremor.. so that’s where I am with it.. (hopefully have her new vehicle around Christmas.. little buggers are hard to find the tremor trim..(close by atleast).
I’ve been looking at something 23,24 model years.
So far I’ve found GM puts a bigger turbo 4 cylinder in their mid size.
Ford wants to sell you the bigger motor.
GM 8 speed transmission
Ford 10 speed transmission
Tacoma brand new engine and still puts out less power and torque than ford or GM.
Tacoma still has that same shit fuel milage they are known for and the cult loves to defend.
That said, I found a 24 Tacoma I really want to buy!
Interest is insane right now as most know. Buying new almost makes more sense as the rates are a little better.
Issue I’m having now is full-size or midsize. We bought 10 acres and are building a house in the country. A small tractor is on the short list.
And with said tractor, you know I’m going to have to have a front bucket and the back hoe attachments! With everything I think I’d still be under the tow rating for a modern midsize.
But part of me says another f150 or 1500 makes more sense.
This is pretty much the set up I’m looking at.
