Standard, raw finish...I also prefer standard so I don't have to gamble with the capacity...I put in what comes out and the level will remain the same...

I'm ordering one tomorrow =)

I got my raw aluminum standard PPE pan from stage3motorsports, I paid $287.99 shipped.
Ford ULV trans oil I got from RockAuto for $5.22 a quart, I got 7 qts (a 5qt jug and 2 singles) and that was enough to have a spare quart for later. (Prices from 9/2025)

I'm the one the confirmed with PPE that the standard pan adds .5-.75 qt extra. I have the email around here somewhere.

No need to do that. It lets the fluid flow easier into the transmission.

Think about how hard it is to transfer fluid into the transmission from under the truck via the port... it is not simple without a pump and a hooked transfer pipe.

If you have a FitzStick your life is far simpler. His funnel and dipstick work like magic. Easy to measure and get it right too. After installing the FitzStick, I added fluid using the Ford method and then tracked the fluid levels at different temperatures. Each of the measurements below are with the same fluid quantity, just at different temperatures.

The cold start level is exactly that. Start your truck, promptly run it through gears at 5 second intervals, park to sport, then backtrack to park. Immediately check your fluid level. It should just be showing on the tip of the dip stick.

I took the measurement at 75F (fluid temp at 77.4F). Those temps where before the truck was started. Truck was level.

There is a little wiggle room as I filled the transmission to the diamond (the middle of the fluid range) at 215F (the top of the fluid temp range).

Using this method eliminates the need to go to 215F to gain obtain an accurate fluid level.

Thanks for the explanation, Tony...wondered about that NTP hole...probably for probe...

I'll use my Fitzstick for final fill check...

Temperature probe. I use the ScanGauge 3 to read the Ford trans temp sensor. These are the items that I am most concerned about.

Only use motorcraft please. Same reason for the oil filters. This is a hot / cold filter element. Don’t want some aftermarket garbage messing it up. Oddly enough the explorer filter cost twice as much and looks identical.
