Extensive research to do what's best for the 2.3 EcoBoost 10R80?! I am confused a bit here.......

The PPE Pan I can understand as it makes it much easier to service the transmission and it adds some cooling fins to help control the temperature.

The fluid is where I'm confused....... How is $20 a quart fluid supposedly better than the OEM $6-$8 a quart fluid that does just fine especially if you service the transmission regularly?! I can tell you that the math is not mathing very well here.
It must be more better cause it costs so much more....if it was more less better than it would cost less.....right ???
I mean the people at Amsoil must feel it more better than anything else, so they can justify the cost !!! They certainly wouldn't charge more it it was less better....would they ???
More means better.....less means not better !!!!:handsinair:

Go to my previous post and watch the U Tube where he posts and compares the lab results of both ULV fluids.

Sure if your regular driver and change it often anything is ok.
We go less than 5000 miles a year 50% towing, cost does not matter, any advantage in temps and shifting, wear, etc, does.

I’m preferred customer, a few clicks on Amsoil website and it comes to my house from Orlando warehouse in two days.

I put it in because I’m towing 4500 lbs in Fl heat. The temp gauge went to 205F in stop and go traffic, highway speed was 195. I accelerate easy and lock out 9/10 gear.

I something happens I can put the oem pan back on use my 10 yr 60K extended warranty? I’ll update after our trip, its red ULV fluid.

Wondering how the two fluids are getting along ??? Are they co-mingling or keeping separate from each other??? I mean why in the world would a $20 buck quart of Amsoil ULV want to mix with a $6 buck quart of Motorcraft ULV ??? And, how do you tell which half is which ???
Now, if something goes wrong, which half do you blame it on ???
Inquiring minds want to know.....
No good can come from oil co-habitation.

First, the trans temps do not even meet operating temps until 210-215 degrees....thats considered normal operating temps.
Second, my Ranger runs at 195 all day long when I'm not towing, and it takes a good number of miles to hit even 195.
Third, I tow a 7000 lb travel trailer and have hit 215 regularly during the summer months and have hit as high as 220 climbing mountain grades in the summer. Around 15,000 of my Rangers 28,000 miles are towing that camper all over the eastern USA.
And, I have done two sucky fluid swaps using Valvoline ULV which is pretty much the same as Motor Craft ULV in that they both run around $6 bucks a quart. I;m now running around 12 quarts of Valvoline mixed in with whatever is a full fill with Motor Craft ULV
Your 195 and 205 temps are perfectly normal.
I'm glad your happy with your Amsoil, it's just I haven't been taken in by their advertising stating it's better than anything else.

I saw 230F once while towing with 6000 lbs big hills and an extremely hot day. High transmission fluid temp warning trips at 265f.

Ummm......... Regardless of the vehicle you have the transmission fluid needs to be serviced regularly. Not doing such can certainly lead to a transmission failure regardless of what fluid you use. Also you are only just over the halfway point for max towing capacity of the Ranger. @Grumpaw does a better job at working the Ranger than anyone else here when it comes to towing and he hasn't had a problem.

Watch a YouTube video to show how ScamOil is somehow saving my vehicle?! No thanks. I'll stick to what I know works and is backed by the manufacturer. Yes I might spend a little extra on Motul Fluids, but I know it is backed by vehicle manufacturer with specifications thanks to testing. Oh wait, Motul doesn't have a certain fluid for the vehicle?! No worries, I'll simply go to the vehicle manufacturer and get the correct fluid as I know it's the correct stuff. Not hard to understand.

I will also state that for my current vehicle(2012 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X), I will always go to the manufacturer for the Transmission Fluid. It's relatively inexpensive and I know they are the only ones that I can find to have the correct stuff. Everywhere else I look I see the "Multi-Fluid" that supposedly meets every specification out there for automatic transmissions. I call bullshit on that garbage as there is a good reason the different vehicle manufacturers have different specifications for different automatic transmissions.

I will also state that my Frontier has a max towing capacity of 6100 lbs and has no problems towing such with the factory equipment. This is thanks to Nissan being ahead of the game and installing an Auxiliary Transmission Cooler with a built-in Thermostat to help the cooler do its job at the right time. Something I wish other manufacturers would do.

Twice I got my 2019 Ranger up to 250° while OffRoad. Thankfully the Synthetic Fluid holds upto it, but I decided to let it cool for reasons.

Valid argument! I guess they have the same marketing strategy as Yeti, Oakley and Under Armour. It'll be a cold in 'you know where' before I buy a $45 coffee mug or a $250 pair of sunglasses. Putting money towards protecting a $40k vehicle (even falsely) is better than putting money towards keeping a cup of coffee hot in some people's viewpoint. We all justify our money differently.

The post is FYI, the U Tube guy sent both ULV’s in for lab analysis and posted his findings.

My usage is short trip city/hwy and severe duty towing in Fl heat.

A scam, overpriced, etc? I’m just a retired
person who has changed his own oil on lawn mowers, small trucks, diesel OTR trucks, etc. for+ 50 yrs.

I’ve used Rotella T, Castrol , Mobil one etc.

A funnel with plastic tube to go on dipstick housing, socket for PPE drain pan plug, the extra 1/2 qt of ULV is going on trip.
Around town with this ULV and the fins on PPE it’s not heating past 185F.
Already drained out one qt and put 1/2 qt back in . It’s supposed to foam as and overheat if overfilled.

So far it shifts smoother and is lower temps.

I've only seen the Valvoline ULV at that sale price, once. I need to do another drain and fill. Napa now has the Valvoline at $17 a quart. Amsoil for me is 13.55 a quart if i get it by the gallon. I think i'll be adding it to my order for today .

I will say that I've never really had any issues with my trans and I'm at 109k....

If price is your concern, go to RockAuto. Looks like they have an excellent deal right now on motorcraft ULV fluid.

I just spit up some coffee. You proudly proclaim "Project Farm" when asked about "research". Nothing beats a Youtuber with a voice that sends animals running, when it comes to "research".

RockAuto does have good prices until you factor in the shipping cost which is gone up significantly in the last 60 days for some reason. I have had to be careful when ordering parts from them lately because of the shipping cost.

I will agree that the shipping can sometimes be questionable from them, but I decided to run a challenge with Rock Auto. For 12 Qts of the ULV Fluid being shipped to my place in Colorado, I can see it on the 18th for $15.99 or I can see it on the 17th for $74.99. for that price I would wait a day and be patient.

With shipping included it’s still less than half the price of the Amsoil
