I found a setting and I cant remember where but it changes how long the camera stays on after you shit into drive 2sec/8sec or 10sec I remember setting it to the max so I can at least watch the trailer for the first few feet, turns off in 0sec when shifted into park
On my lowly XT, the setting is in the tiny Sync screen and I can only select camera delay or not.

If no, it turns off when you take it out of reverse.

If yes, what I use, it stays on until you reach like 7 mph moving forward.

If the issue is tied to the SYNC version 3.2 R10 RC1 will updating SYNC 3 solve it without a trip to the dealer?

I’d only worry about it if you get the recall notice seeing only about 3% of Rangers are affected.

Interesting - camera on our Ranger has gone off didn’t work for an few trips then it came back on working.. well sort of and now refuses to come on clear it’s like your eye trying to process information when you just woke up all hazy and blurry. I’d understand it had it been hit or damaged but it hasn’t.

Whoa, thanks @subquark and my STX also thanks you. Who knew?

They finally revised the recall letter and gave some direction (Some?)

1. They are updating it to 23188, which most of us have already C/W.
2. There is a step in the procedure - where they (Clear User Data) before they perform the update.
Which from various previous issues with updating by owners, created a choke point as it was full and would not fully complete.
I know my scan tools have this option (Clear User Data) along with the APIM Reset option.
so just wanted to point out that FDRS is not required and can be performed with other scan tools that have it.

The (Some?) Direction - Refers to the point that if you already have 23188.
1, Are you included in this recall?
2. How important (Recall Wise) is the step to Clear User Data?
As those who have updated to 23188 (At Home) did not C/W this step.
So if this step is (IMPORTANT) then we will all be included, if not then those that Ford servers show you have already updated to 23188 - will not receive a recall notice.

So the recall still leaves a grey area for understanding of clarity.
I think the main goal (reason) for the recall is to get all vehicles affected to version 23188, as all prior versions had various issues.

Here's one for you so about a year ago my USB ports stopped working making it where I cannot connect my phone and listen to music Etc..
So I went to the dealership today for the SYNC update and the SYNC update must be done through the USB port so they cannot do the update unless I fix the USB port.. told him to kick rocks, walked out!!
Before walking out though I asked him wouldn't that be a recall since nothing can be done as far as updating the vehicle because the USB port has failed.
I have read many posts about people with the same issue losing the connectivity of their USB ports in the front

Have your tried any of the posted T-Shoot procedures to see if you can recover the non-working USB Hub?

APIM Resets - Pulling Fuse and or Battery Disconnect?
Checked for any stored codes - related to the APIM or USB?

Does the (USB HUB) Light up or is it dead?
Looking for is it powering or is it only a communication (issue) with the USB

Repair under recall - Is a grey area, as with all the TSB's etc for APIM, none of them address an inop or malfunctioning USB port as one of the symptoms.
