Hiked 20 miles and biked 50 during a week of camping.

Just finished a 10-day swing up into Utah for fly fishing. It was 1,740 miles, 18.5mpg, 9 nights in the Super Pacific camper, and total trip cost was $835, not including having to replace the upper section of my Sage One fly rod that I stupidly left on top of the camper before I drove back to a camp site.

Before leaving Arizona on the way up to Panguich, UT, I stopped at Horseshoe Bend. The Navajo charge $10 for entry, it‘s a 1 1/2 mile round trip hike and worth the picture.

Middle Provo River. Very nice scenery and fish, but too noisy due to the highway next to the river.

Upper Provo River. This used to be a great stream with boulders and logs, but a huge flood last year wiped it out, and now it’s all wide and fast water.

The old beaver dam is still there, and in good repair. Gotta admire those industrious guys.

North Fork Dechesne River. Quiet, remote and chock full of Brook Trout.

Eastern end of the Strawberry River. A big fire here left the place a moonscape, but the cliffs are still beautiful, and the cutthroats were hungry.

View at the Promised Land Resort. The view was great, but the resort was such a dump, I stayed elsewhere.

Back in Arizona at Lone Rock Campground on Lake Powell. This used to be a dispersed camp site, but now it’s $30 for entry and $14 to camp. Still worth it as they have many vault toilets and one real bathroom with running water and outdoor showers.

Just west of Tuba City is a spot with dinosaur tracks! Totally free and awesome to see. I guess I can mark this off of my bucket list.

Final night, at Fools Hallow Recreation Area in Show Low. Nice little rainbow to finish out the trip.

The local fire department was hosting a charity fundraiser car wash benefitting Camp Bucko, a camp for child burn victims.

Ran Switzerland Trail yesterday with my wife. We were with our son in his ‘94 CJ which is 2 years older than he is.

Kota's first DUMP RUN! Tomorrow will be his first 6-month anniversary with us, so he had to do a dump run - he's not official until that!

so whatcha think Kota? ain't this the best ever?

well, I can respect your opinion on the awesomeness of dump runs ... =p

I was spending $150 a year on paper yard bags, this year, along with the Leaf Burrito, I'm trying these plastic bags. they each hold about 3 lawnmower grass catcher bagful's and are still easy to toss into the truck (no need for the nifty truck crane, I have summer plans for it, of course!) =D

DPW didn't pick up yard waste this week, so I swung by and grabbed a neighbor's can and another neighbor's bag =)

since it's not my can, I used this nifty adjustable bungee cord that are handier than I expected, to keep the lid in place

Awesome posts going up! Can’t wait to start contributing again, but had partial knee replacement last Friday and will be a spectator only for a while.

How is the recovery going?

Worse than expected. Thought I would go home that day. Spent two nights in hospital. Still don’t have a handle on the pain. I’m not very encouraged at this point. I just had a partial. The lady next to me had double knee replacement and went home rhe same night. Much older and uhhh much more uhhhhh mass…

it’s been excruciatingly painful. I’ve reached the anger an frustration levels I didn’t want to see. Still no effective pain management making my rehab efforts very unproductive.

Had to quit the oxy because I stated hallucinating day 3.

I have had both knees replaced not a fun time. First knee the oxy gave me an ulcer so when I had second done it was Tylenol only that was a bad time.
