I have been driving turbo charged 4cyl powered vehicles since 1985 and all have been tuned. I have gotten the same or better mileage after tuning on all of them.

With my 21 Tremor I got 21-22 mpg around town and 24-25 mpg on the hiway untuned. Got the same with the Ford Performance tune. When gas went over $4 for 93 octane a few years ago I switched to an 87 Octane tune and have been using 87 octane ever since. The gas mileage still hasn't changed from the 21-22 / 24-25 I got untuned.

FPP Tune & 91 octane since new, along with 31.5" tires and 2.5" level. I live at ~6000ft elevation and have 76k miles. I just put in the FP upgraded cold plugs and it did restore some responsiveness, I think the tune had burned down the factory plugs sooner than scheduled.

lowest I've ever got was 18 in the winter
20-22 mpg mixed city/highway
22-24 highway at 75+
26-27 roundtrip mountain highways at 55-65. I just got 26.7 round trip a few weeks ago on a 4 hours round trip ski trip in the mountains.

Onboard computer with tire size / speedometer calibrated accurately

Unleashed Tune and only 16 in town. It's 4 miles to work and 4 miles back which is not conducive to good MPG. I do get 24-27 on the highway on trips to Seattle at 75+ there and back. Towing my Tent Trailer I get 18-20 when going camping. I always use 93 octane gas. Oregon has crappy gas especially in the winter. I love my tune :D

Last weekend going to and from the track for SARRC/MARRS Challenge at ViR, with roof rack and Yakima narrow basket on it, I got a little over 23MPG with Ford Performance tune. Stock suspension, wheels and tires and a tonneau cover.

I am getting 11-13 mpg around town & 15-16 on the freeway if I drive easy on each. Empty.
Also not thrilled with mileage.
Used 2020 w/285/65x18’s 35k miles.
I did gain 3 mpg going from 45 lb wheels to 30 lb wheels. I hope to go 10 lb lighter tires also sometime soon.
Speedo has not been corrected so that may play in.

Heavy wheels, lift & loss of aero (non stock bumper) all contribute IMO.
Stock is most efficient but I’m a slow learner. ?

I've read every response to this thread. You & I are at the bottom of the pile. You're the only person that gets mileage as bad as I do. Almost all of these dudes are claiming 20+ mpg. I like my throttle pedal but jeezus krist ! There's no way i'm "THAT" aggressive. Or is everyone else driving like an old lady ? Or did I get a shitty tune ? I started with the standard SCT tuner. My mileage was just as bad with that tune (10.6 - 11.8 mpg). The, I bought the Revolution Automotive Tune as a Christmas present to myself. My 0-60 times (9 hours after the install) were 5.15 sec. backed up by a 5.23 pull. I still get the same mileage (10.6 - 11.8 mpg). I just cannot comprehend how these other guys are in the 20's unless their tunes aren't as strong as mine.

I was one of the responses with high teens or low 20s. I have the FPP tune and typically fill up with 91 octane 0 ethanol. I do not drive like an old lady but also do not drive like a boy racer.

Do you have a lot of traffic lights, is your area as flat as Florida or does your daily commute have elevation changes, tire weight, elevation from sea level all make a difference.

I am not tuned but I tend to get worse MPG than many in my boat too. Even with our Honda Pilot's we have had worse mpg than others, I just can't compete with the people in the forums.

I started with a Tremor and stock I could do 21-22mph at 75mph, now with a 1" level and the 285/70/17 I had since 10k miles, I can generally do 18-20mpg at 75mph. Originally put k02 but going to k03 lost me a solid 1mpg from the added weight. My city mpg is roughly 13-15mpg driving about average and most of my trips are less than 5 miles. I end up in Sport mode with a light to moderate foot, that or tow/haul with a heavier foot to get a similar experience.

My engine was replaced in Nov 2024 and I swear this engine is getting 2mpg less than the old one, then I realized, well since then the city has added a few more traffic lights and stop signs in my area. Which is likely the reason for the drop since they do not know how to sync lights 50 yards from each other. You get one red and your screwed.

As long as you can afford the gas, drive the truck and have fun. That is what I am trying to do at least.

Hahaha if you meant the old ladies in my family you’d be getting 8-10mpg bunch of lead foot ol ladies (when they were around).. I do drive pretty cautiously and the by product has been around 21.7-22.5mpg (lifetime mpg).. so have precious cargo (my little ones or wifey.) nearly every time I’m in the Truck so I rarely get to drive like I did in my younger years?… but it’s technically saving me money on gas (and in kommiefornia that’s big deal)? just paid $96 for 17.9 gallons

Interesting. I have 6 stop/starts on my drive to work. That's 36 stop/starts per day (3 round trips from home to work & back) in sport mode with a moderate to heavy foot. @ 11 mpg avg. lately.

But 17.8 mpg on a 360 mile round trip,,, all highway @ 80 mph,,, flat lands. That sucks. I was only above 90 mph for 18 miles. The rest of the trip was on cruise at 80. SUX !

You pay over $5 / gallon ? Sonnofabitch !
I would drop 2 tire sizes and get rid of my tune if I lived there.

Nah just gonna keep trying to vote the current governing party out of office for California.. and go bigger in tire size while I’m at it?. Cali is part of the United States and I’ll do what I can. Lived here too long to just give up and leave.. trust me I’ve thought about leaving.
