Fuel Brand Preference

We all know that there is multiple different Brands of Fuel. The real question is what brand do you chose and why?

I know I primarily go for Conoco/Phillips66/76. At the moment I have started to use Sinclair since it is available nearby and sometimes I can get a better price.

Costco first choice, QT second.
Costco is cheaper and locally convenient to me.
Both are Top Tier.
I use 91 octane exclusively.

I buy chevron and QT because those are the two most convenient to me in the area I normally travel. I notice zero difference in performance between the two, so I buy QT when I can because it’s quite a bit cheaper than Chevron. I have the Ford tune so I buy 93.

Shell, cause discount. BP or mobile, but I don't really have much of a preference.



Anything is better than Circle K gas, though.

76…usually the only gas station that had higher than 91 anywhere in the Bay Area that I could find.. it was the only fuel that wouldn’t cause the rotary in my 1988 turbo 2 10th anniversary edition to “ping”… that was years ago though.. also 76 is a favorite number of mine.

BP… second favorite gas station to go to was know as Rotten Robbie’s. They distributed BP fuel.. just a nice local gas station with a friendly owner who was always very nice to the family… even gave me a free tank of fuel when I was on hard times… (yes I eventually paid him back.)

Mainly just personal reasons.. I’m not familiar with any actual data on why one is better than the other..

I just got a Costco card so that’ll be nice since they always seem to have a great price for fuel.
Which will be nice since California…

Costco, Sam's, BJ's clubs (yes I have membership at all) for price on premium and Buc ee's for ethanol free 90 octane/price. Then there's Kroger when I have points for midgrade or ethanol free if the price point works out. My Unleashed tune is for midgrade or higher. If I had a Sunoco with E30 around I'd be all over that. I'm all over the Southeast.

Ptack's (pit-tax) IGA. we get a gas coupon for 10-25¢/gal with groceries. Their Premium 91 E0 is typically 60-75¢/gal less than any of the others in town, even without a coupon. They are also in a relatively quiet part of town. Marathon is our only Top Tier, but their 91 oct. is E10, and I avoid filling with any gasohol. We also have Kwik Trip and Circle K.
I never buy gas at the Circle K because you can't mute the obnoxious pump tv, plus they have music blasting over the PA. And being an artsy-crafty-bar town, we are Harley and Ricky Racer Homecoming every weekend so there are usually a dozen or so straight pipe bikes jockeying for the pumps. Did I mention the average 43 trains passing through each day?

Probably should start another thread, but I don't think its to off target of the OP's question.
And some of the answers reminded me of some lack of understanding I have about alcohol in our fuel.
Seen other people mention they would love to run a higher mix of ethanol in there gas. Always thought alcohol didn't burn as well as gas beside the corrosive properties, therefore should be avoided for better performance and fuel economy. Unless you have an nitro methane beast of course.

So is there an answer or is another best oil question?

That's not the subject at hand. Simply a question of what brand individuals prefer to use when it comes to gas stations is all. It's not even an octane related question.

Now that I have somewhat given you an answer to that, I say start a different thread for that.
