Possibly but a good working egr system will get hot enough to eliminate it. This sensor going bad could cause the system to work less efficiently this leading to more moisture and damage
My point I'm getting too is at the time the sensor is failing because of moisture/water and you replace the hoses and sensor wouldn't it be wise to make sure the egr tube is clean and moisture free. I saw a post a while back where a mechanic started the vehicle without the sensor connected to remove any remaining water. Is that doable????

Absolutely! Guess I misunderstood. You can use a scan tool to see if the egr valve is open or closed.

Yeah no shit. But where is the design flaw that is causing the repeat failures?
No shit...just water...shit would really clog up the pipe...

I am interested to see if the failures are more common in more humid environments. It would be interesting to see if the failure rates correlate with the wetter eastern half of the USA vs the dryer western half (minus coastal Oregon and Washington state). I have had the failure in NC, and have driven extensively in the SC low country. Our summers have extreme high humidity levels - 90%+.

I have this problem now on my 2020 Ranger, and have only made it to page 7 of this 55 page thread, so my apologies if this question has been answered.

I just ordered the EGR valve w/hoses, but it just occurred to me: isn't the EGR system part of the emissions system? It was my understanding that manufacturers are required to warrant emissions system components for 100k miles (mine is at 50k).

What say you?

I say, good morning, Andrew! Ford says 8 yr 80,000 miles emissions system warranty. I didn't read through it to find what specifically is covered, but here it is:

Ford won't even admit there's a problem with the sensor, so good luck trying to get them to pay for it.

Very interesting. EGR is definitely listed as "covered". But with the enlightened on this forum changing their own (and the rest clueless), Ford is not likely to step up. Btw that $15 part is now $100, so that's not nothing.

WHAT IS COVERED?
For your vehicle if these parts contain an emissions-related defect, they
are covered by both the Emissions Defect Warranty and the Emissions
Performance Warranty.

Mine came from RockAuto. It doesn't look like an OEM part (based on the labeling), but so far it is @ a 90% improvement at removing the bucking and surging. I'm on the fence with buying the actual Ford sensor. Now that I have removable clamps on the hoses, it would take me @ 10 minutes to swap the sensor. Also, you just need the sensor. You do not need to replace the hoses.

I actually think it is the Ford part, or at least off the same manufacturing line. One of mine still had some of the original information printed on it not completely removed, and the numbers left matched the font and numbers on the original.

It doesn't matter too much to me as it corrected my issue. I have 3 more on the shelf. You never know when prices go up or availability dries up. I treat it as a wear part.

I agree that it looks like it is off the same manufacturing line. They definitely tried to remove the labeling on the part. I wonder why they would do that and then sell it for less than 1/3 the price from a Ford OEM parts house.

Standard automotive purchases them from Fords supplier sans the markings. They sell it for that price because they aren’t putting an outrageous markup on it like Ford and have to compete with other aftermarket resellers. Have seen this done with other OEM’s also
