I have about 4500 miles since I changed fluid, filter and installed PPE pan with drain plug.

I’m already using Amsoil products in all differentials, transfer case and engine.

Even at preferred customer price it’s $5 quart more than the Motocraft ULV fluid installed.

It seems like a crazy idea to spend $136 for eight quarts to change early at this mileage as preventive maintenance flush.

You could call me a Amsoil fan boy, etc.
We drive less than 5 K a year but 30-50% of that is towing camper in Fl heat.

I’m only considering that because my preferred customer expires at end of month and I just got my oil, filter ,small engine oil ,etc for next year.

Going to order some with fluid installed date, time, mileage to be determined?

Valvoline ULV, when on sale at NAPA is around $6.50 per quart.....$52.00 for your 8 quart change.
I also tow, and am coming up on my second DYI change at 30,000 miles via the Fitzstick and 12 volt sucky transfer pump.
Amsoil price is too much for a yearly change.....even Motorcraft is pricey unless you get it from RockAuto....

Use the good fluid if you want, it certainly won't hurt, but it is far more important to keep the fluid clean, which unfortunately means changing more often. I can't bring myself to spend that kind of coin on fluid when it isn't going to be in there long.

I've been a Preferred Customer for 10+ years, there's ways to save! I only get a 6 month membership, I order at the beginning of the 6 months and before it runs out I buy bulk to last me a good long time before I renew it. I also use everything they sell other than fluids....grease, fuel injector cleaner, filters, small engine oil, 2 stroke oil, bar & chain oil, car wash etc. etc. If you switch all your machinery over to Amsoil....and if you trust the extended drain intervals on the motor oil even by 20-30%, I save money.
That said, I also take into account the time & gas I'd save by not having to run to the auto parts store five or six Saturday mornings per year just to pay at least 25% markup over their discounted Preferred Customer price. I like having it all dropped on my doorstep, and I have the peace of mind knowing they blend their oil and not rebranding someone else's.

Amsoil ULV Full Synthetic.....now $21.69 per quart or $17.09 for "preferred" customers.
MotorCraft ULV Full Synthetic....now $5.24 per quart at Rock Auto.
Valvoline ULV Full Synthetic.....now on sale $6.99 per quart at NAPA

All 3 are full synthetic, and meet Ford's spec's. Cannot see what makes Amsoil so much "Gooder" that its more than 2 and 3 times the cost of the other's especially if, like me, your changing fluid every 15,000 miles !!!

No mystery why it costs so much. Amsoil spends nearly $100 million annually for advertising. They make around $75 million annually.

Until I start to see approvals by the manufacturer to state that it meets their specifications, I would highly recommend not using it. When it comes to automatic transmissions regardless of vehicle make, you want to make sure you use the correct fluid. Not doing so will result in transmission failure.

If you want to believe in your scamoil products go right personally I would not recommend them especially since they have no testing show with a manufacturers that it meets their specifications

It says it meets Ford and GM specifications, when it comes I’ll post picture of what back of container says, I could have saved $20 if I realized two gallons was cheaper than eight squeeze bottles.

Of course if you change it sooner and often the Motocraft ULV ( no specifications on the bottle I just looked) is fine schedule.

I will not do severe service 30 K miles , regardless of fluid used,

I use tow mode , downshift braking , and tow 4500 lb camper on 300 mile rooud trips 4/6 times a year.

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID
For Automatic Transmission: 10R80....ULV

Notes:(1) The WSS-M2C949-A specification recommended was developed by Ford and GM. Products meeting the specification are available under the DEXRON ULV and MERCON ULV tradenames.
Capacity:5.1 quarts Initial Fill.
Capacity:10 speed 10R80 Total Fill 12.8 quarts.

I hate to break it to you, but that is not a true ULV. I don't give a damn what ScamOil wants to advertise it as. It's just an overpriced multi vehicle transmission fluid. Thanks to that I can't get behind it on the certification that it meets Fords Specifications. Do what you want, but I still don't recommend it.

I have never bought into the Amsoil cheerleading and the pyramid selling structure reminds me of Amway.
If you change your oil regulary (what ever hole it goes into) a quality product should work. I use mobil 1 v twin in my motorcycle and love the performance. This video is interesting to watch.

I think oil for the most part is what you prefer or believe in. Will Amsoil be better for our crappy transmissions? I don't know, i used the motorcraft trans fluid and the lubeguard platnum and so far works fairly decently except for my first couple of shifts into 4th gear where i may shiftt smooth or i may get some slamming. To each his own

I don't besmirch anyone from wanting to use a 'better' fluid. I am just of the opinion that I want to get the most particles out of the transmission on a regular basis, which means frequent changes, and I can't stomach throwing away expensive fluid like that. But, if you've got the means and the want, have at it.

If I had unlimited funds, I'd probably be using all HPL stuff. I do want to put it in my diff someday.

The funny thing is Amsoil's reps swore up and down that their incorrectly spec'd Signature fuel efficient ATF was completely Mercon and Dexron ULV compatible, only to come around a release this stuff.

Yea, we had that discussion over on another forum. I think it was more of an 'ohh shit, this doesn't work in 10R/10L's, better come up with something thinner"
