Hello, I have been doing a lot of research, and looking online for an offroad trailer. I came across a nice looking prospect from a company in Canada. I know there is some forum members here from the Great North. Was wondering if any of you have ever heard of Tipella Backcountry. I believe they are located in Abottsford BC. Have sent them an email also, waiting to hear back from them. Any info would be appreciated there is so many choices out there. Always helps if you can have some first hand knowledge instead of just internet reviews.

Hi Jeff, I haven’t heard of them but it looks quite versatile.

I thought I’d let you know about another manufacturer just on the outskirts of Calgary, Alberta.

beaverbuilt.ca

I saw one of their units up close a couple of years back - it looked fairly nuke proof and well-designed (Dometic, Jackery, cookstove pullout, tons of storage, crazy suspension, aggressive tires).

Spendy but with a 68¢ Canadian Peso, your money goes a long way here. Buy Canadian! Woohoo! ??

Thanks for the reply, yes there is a lot of options out there. The one you listed looks nice, but maybe too many extras for me. Will take a look at it, another issue is they need to be US certified to make importing easier. The one I was looking at had a nice bear bones version with just the needed essentials. Some of the trailers get crazy in the price category. I do not want to spend more on a trailer than I paid for the Ranger.
Edit
Just looked at the one you listed nice option not too overly priced, and they list USD so seems import would be straight forward. Will keep this one in mind too many choices.

Oh yeah, they’re pricey for sure. Bare bones sounds like a good idea - customize it how you intend to use it - add only what you need - incorporate what you already might have.

I didn’t consider the U.S. certification since our transportation safety standards are very similar - good point.

Did you see the suspension on this??? It's wild! It seems like such a well engineered solution.

I do wonder about the standard ball hitch, some of the off road trailers I've seen have some crazy articulating arms to connect to the vehicle, probably a good question for one of these companies that makes them every day :).

That’s what I like about the Canadian trailers they are using the Cruisemaster suspension. Where as in the US it is either a Solid Axle with Leaf Springs, Torrsion or Timbren axle setup. I think the Cruisemaster is a better overall setup.
Edit
Yes you need an articulating hitch most have the option for something like Lock N Roll which is what I would get.

Yes, I did see the suspension on them - wanted it on my Ranger when I saw it. ?

Took a look and I'm not entirely impressed. Yes it has independent suspension and what looks like a halfway decent tow bar. The general design make me think of every other trailer on the market that seems cheap.

Now if I were to go with a nice OffRoad Trailer, then I would go with Patriot Campers. They are designed and built in Australia. They are very nice and capable. Of course a high price tag as well. Regardless that is what I would go with.

Sorry, but price on those is just crazy not interested in paying over double what I paid for my 2021 Lariat FX4 on a trailer. Even with up grades on the truck the trailer is still 1.5 times more expensive. I know you get what you pay for, but to me there is also a point where things don’t make sense. I have looked at some different makes, and you can get a quality build for a whole lot less.

Which ones?

I'm shopping for one too. It'd be nice to have a trailer for this so you can just hook up to my off-road rig or ranger and be already packed and ready to go on an adventure. It sure beats packing it all up the night before and squeezing the whole family in.

Got to remember too that a trailer can be pulled by more than one vehicle. Let's say for example that later down the road you get rid of the Ranger and get something else(whether it be another Ranger or something else). Chances are the next vehicle is going to be able to tow since you already plan to. Well that next vehicle will be able to tow that trailer when needed. So instead of look at how much the trailer cost over the tow vehicle, look at how often you will use the trailer. If it is going to be used a few times a year then j can understand not wanting to shell out that much. It doesn't seem practical at that point. Now it would e different if you were using it way more often. Then it wouldn't be too hard to justify.

those are some neat trailers! but ive never been a fan of those tbh... the price for one of those built to go offroad trailers are wild!

i ended up building my own with a old military trailer m100 to be exact. ya it was a solid axle with heavy duty leafs but that damn thing just went anywhere i went! only had one issue with it when i owned it which was a wheel bearing going out thats it!

Two smaller manufactures I want to check out in person are Warhorse Overland in CO and USHI Outdoors in NC. Both have decent sounding ones somewhat under $10K. Have seen the bigger name brand ones at Expo’s, but most of those push close to $15k for a starting point. USHI has a brand ambassador program and there is one about 3 hours from me. Their’s are Aluminum and I like the idea of that. Have had Aluminum skid plates on a Subaru for over 7 years and they are holding up really good .

Edit
Forgot to mention Smittybilt (I know will probably get a lot of bad feedback) seen one a few years ago on the trails. Talked to the guy and he was ok with it.
Would love to build one, but do not have the space or tools to do it correctly.
