I know of the copious pages on this issue but i am at the stage where the dealer has replaced the oem 2 piece driveshaft with the one that came from the tremor per the tsb from late 2023. Part number is LB3Z 4R602 E. That part required a new pinion flange to be installed on rear diff. As I understand it, this piece along with the shaft is what makes a tremor a tremor when it comes to these parts. With that said, Tom Woods doesn't make a shaft for the tremors- yet. So i cannot just swap this 2 piece out for a one piece tom woods.

Is there another brand that's good out there that does make a one piece for tremors?

I am assuming the above is true meaning for driveshaft purposes, i have a tremor.

Here is a little backstory of how i got here.

took the truck in to ford back in 2021 a month after owing it since new, and they applied the tsb where they added the rear shim kit. This tsb at the time applied to ALL rangers with these symptoms. I have a 2021 fx4 4x4. It changed the vibe location somewhat but never fixed it or the sliding sensation.

Fast forward to this year, i take it in to get looked at and they said it needs a new driveshaft that is on backorder. I waited 6 weeks, pushed ford, and they finally got the above part number in along with the pinion flange and did the work.

that fixed things, both issues, for 2 days or about 20 miles. It was not just not doing it. it would have done it if it wasn't "fixed". It came back and it's different than before but still there.

Ford has given me some cash for my troubles and it's going back next week to get looked at again- i have 8 year/125k mile esp warranty so it's all covered.

I was planning on replacing the shaft with a tom woods on my dime to see if it resolves it but i see they don't make them for tremors. Since my truck now has the tremor driveshaft- i think- i can't.

The shim kit installed back in 2021 was not removed as far as i know. So next week they are looking into removing that.

Could that shim kit be the new cause of this vibe?

The new tsb states that for RWD truck , use the shim kit only. For 4x4 use only the driveshaft. Could it be that the shim kit that wasn't removed is now causing this shutter and the simple fix is to just remove it?

thoughts?

For the thump at stop, the driveshaft yoke splines will need to be re-lubed.

I think there's more to the Tremor than the drives haft.
Call the Tom Woods shop and get the real deal info directly.

Lubing the splines with Ford's blue synthetic grease cured my stop/start thunk.

I have the shim kit TSB done and just did the splines with some Shell ROTELLA Special Duty grease with 3% moly and the truck drives smooth as butter now. The Ranger 2-piece driveshaft is an absolute piece of shit. The splines were near bone dry and my truck only has about 67,000km on it. I've got a 2020 XLT Sport. Cost me $25 supplies and about $75 in labour vs the $700US Tom Woods one-piece driveshaft.
