Really appreciate this. Items bought. Much nicer set-up. Looking forward to putting it together and replacing/removing the spliced connectors.

Cheers!

No problem.

Make sure you look at all the pictures for the female end at Wolfhaus site. He provides instructions.

Once you are done, you'll have a water proof OEM connection.

Edit

You get one chance when it comes to crimping. Make sure the polarity is correct.

Would have done that, but for two reasons.

First, I couldn't find the connector type listed anywhere. So I gave up and went with a splice. And given that I needed to get the truck out on the road I didn't want to give the local police/state troopers an easy ticket while I waited on the part (they're death on these things around these parts). But definitely thank you for that info. :fistbump:

Second, I also just bought the OEM power point harness (that the connector is meant for; and about the same price that Wolfhaus Off Road is asking) and 12v socket to add to the bed. So I would have eventually had to splice into something somewhere.

But that cable might be just the thing for @underwhelmed.
I just ordered the Wolfhaus so that Ford connector will be used.

Or you can make your own splitter from that plug. I don't like splicing. (see pic)

Wolfhaus had a 12 volt socket plus an extra wire connection. But I don't see it at his site. I made my own splitter instead.

So, Woulfhause has a splitter that will allow me to use the in bed 12v for power items and power my dome light? I’m an idiot so you have to dumb it down.

Yes, but I don't see it on his site. Otherwise I would have provided a link.

ok, here is where I’m at:

First pic is the wire and plug in the topper. Two left wires go to 3rd brake light on topper and two right wires go to topper dome light.

Second pic I ordered a “Topper wire harness 4 prong” from Truck Outfitters because it looks like it should hook up to my topper 4 prong?

planning on running that harness out of bed to splice the 7 pin connector Pic 3 for 3rd brake light. Wondering where to get power for dome light without key being on?

Any info greatly appreciated. I have never wired anything so make any input for a double digit IQ. Thanks.

Here's the problem with doing that. The truck will think you have a trailer hooked up.

This is one of many posts that mention it.

They have been splicing to the brake light behind the tail light instead.

The only way I can think of is straight to the battery.

Thanks for your input. I’ll read the thread. The one I saw didn’t mention issues when going to the 7 pin.

On my old Sport Trac I used this module and ran an extension harness from the 4 pin trailer plug to it and then to the cap's third brake light. Basically both brake/turn signal wires go into it and one wire comes out and it cancels the turn signal to the third brake light on the cap. It will work without it but whichever brake light you wire it to it will blink with that turn signal.

Success! I used the truck outfitter 4 pin plug. Hooked it to the 4 pin plug in the topper. Ran Red/white line to taillight red #2. Works with out flashing. Ran solid red to the Wolfhaus Wiring for power and ground wire to frame. So far so good. Even created a bracket to zip tie everything up and out of the way per another member suggestion. THANKS EVERYONE!

@underwhelmed, @Figarou I am bringing this thread back up and I need one of you to take out your big red crayon and draw me a picture. In otherwords, I need someone to dumb this down for me. I just purchased the Wolf Haus connector that I can plug into the factory wires. I do not need light hook up (I installed Hardkorr lighting using a 12V system attached to a power bank). I just need the 3rd brake light working which I have attached a picture of the wires. Power and ground. The question I have is where are you plugging this into the tailight assembly? You are having to splice into that..correct? And if so, how?

Thanks in advance for any help! Seth

I’ll have to check. I know my dome light is spliced into the Wolfhause under the fender ad third brake iight into the brake light behind the taillight. I think there is a post on the forum somewhere with pics on third taillight splice.

Ok. I figured it out. Light is working as it should now. I ended up calling Super Pacific and asked them what color the wires were for: Red-Brake, White-ground, Black-tailight. I ended up using a 2-prong water tight connector and attached the red wire from the camper to the red wire on the connector. I then connected the white wire from the camper to the black wire on the connector. When this was completed I used a wire connector https://www.amazon.com/Posi-tap-Con...95455&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl to tap into the red wire and black wire on the tailight assembly. Afterwards, I cleaned everything up with shrink wrap and we are good to go!
