Seems like a majority of the posts have a starting OEM tire of 265. My truck has OEM 255/65R17; it's a standard XLT without a Sport or FX4 package. Does anyone know if there are Ford manufacturing technical differences in the suspension? Obviously I am also trying to sort out what will fit, but I am not sure if my starting point is different than those of you are are already fitted with a 265 tire directly from Ford.

Has anyone on here put on Falken Wildpeak AT4s 265/70/17 on their 4x4 XLT? These seem to be in my budget and I just need to be sure they won’t rub using my stock sport wheels. TIA!

These would do perfect with no rubbage. Any bigger you’ll rub for sure. Unless you add a level kit !

How much bigger can we go with no lift? Looking at 265/70/17 which are 31.6 vs the stock 265/65/17 which are 30.5. so that only equates to 1/2" difference in diameter approx.

Hey sir. 265-70s are just right with out the front tires rubbing. If you go 285 it’ll rub. Unless you put on a level kit

thx. I read somewhere that the AT4 is beefier than the discontinued AT3 so I was hoping someone on here has them on.

I have the AT4 in 255/70/18. Had them for over a year now. Very impressed

I went an inch bigger in diameter 31.5” with 265/65/18 Duratracs
The stock one was 30.5” 265/60/18 Hankook Dynapro
No issues so far at 140 plus miles.
I think the issue would be the width, so I checked this first
https://tiresize.com/comparison/
According to the size calculator, the width is the same with the tires I chose.

Thanks for sharing this, that answered the question I had rattling around inside my head. My truck has 255/65/17s and I am probably going to go 255/70/17s on the next set of tires. Nice ride man.

no spacers, no lift, no level. As stated before, my intention was to install a taller wider tire without throwing the gear ratio out of whack too far, so I went with a tire only 1" taller than stock, and about .8" wider. These are Cooper AT3's, a true light truck tire (10 ply rated). After driving home from discount tire, it's clear that these I think are perfect for as far as my stated goals were concerned with the existing gears and maintaining the "zippiness" of the motor. No doubt a 265/70/17 would look better, however I like the width of the new tires and again the preservation of performance as it relates to the original gear ratio. I also intend to pull a travel trailer so it made a difference to me as to how tall of a tire I should install.

I like the way that looks. 1" and retains the power of the truck itself. I was planning on getting a set 255/70/17 Goodyears on the next set of tires, but I really like the way 275/65/17s look. My truck spends most of its life on the road, and with a setup like yours it will retain the power and still have the 1" lift.?

Its standard with a Sport package, I have a 22 Sport 4x4 and it has 255/65R17s on it. I have researched the heck out of this thread and made up my mind and I am going to put a set of 255/70R17 Goodyear Wrangler highway tires on the next set.
