Hey everyone. After light off road trail with stock 2023 Fx4 found some deep cracks and partially lost thread blocks on my stock kooks dynapro atm. On the trail aired it down to 20psi, daily drive 38psi as recommended.
Has anyone seen something like that before? So I think it’s time for new tires. Any recommendations for more durable and reliable AT stock size 265/65 R17 tires?
And should it be LT tires?

Looks like you went to a nice sharp place. Do yourself a favor and go find yourself a good altering tire that will hold up to stuff like that. A personal recommendation I have is the Firestone destination XT. Should be available in 265/70-17 and will fit without any modification to the suspension

Just got the BFGoodrich KO2 and they so far are great
At 30K my HandCooked tires were cracking on the side walls where there was no contact. Could see the layer of white (for the raised white letters) showing thru, very scary...

Went with BFG KO2's as well and very happy with aggressive look and quiet ride. A bit stiffer but happy!

Can't wait to "break them in" !

Got rid of the Hankook tires . Put a set of General Grabbers on, 255 - 75 x 17.
This is on a 2020 4x4
XLT FX 4
stock height. Looks great and ride great. No rubbing
They weigh about5 lbs more, lost 2 mpg.
1 in. taller, 1 in. narrower than stock .

Looks like some sharp rocks. Could still run them probably, but could also use the opportunity to upgrade

I recommend Nitto Ridge or Trail Grapplers, no LT needed

Had a trail around here, did my Hankooks in after several normal trails, this one had a rock bed with some shale type rocks, cut them up in additon to sidewall puncture

I just had to buy a new one. A couple weeks ago while at my dealer for the works I asked them to check a tire that was slowly leaking. Well they charged me $40 to dip it in water while rotating and said it's a pinhole leak through the sidewall that can't be patched at 4500 miles. Wanted over $300 plus installation to order a replacement. I got one on Amazon for $199.00 and have to get it installed. I have never hit anything or been offroad and think it just sprung a leak on its own. You can see it has no wear yet. No warranty coverage on leaks or anything through Ford really sucks.

That's what I said. Surprised they charged me $40 bucks just for dipping in water while it was being rotated for the works anyway.

Next time go to Discount Tire, they will fix it for free, if they can. And I'm sure a replacement would be cheaper than the dealer.

We don't have any Discount Tire locations in the area :frown:. I was thinking Ford would warranty it being undamaged and low mileage but they don't care about tires.

The autocross crowd calls that "chunking." It's something you might see when applying a lot of lateral G-force to the tread. IMO, airing down might have contributed to it.

I have a good tire shop that has installed a lot of Hankook AT tires. I'm sure they'd tell you they aren't designed for serious off-roading. If you're at the point where you're airing down, you want a more dedicated tire. IMO.
