Good info for those unfamiliar with it. Thx for posting.

Willing to bet though that this thread gets hijacked and turned into a discussion of efforts to increase MPG. Topic of towing will start the fuel tank size discussion. Which will in turn bring up the topic of frequent stops. All of which leads inevitably to thoughts of "MPG." Maybe while towing, but maybe not. But MPG.

And they're off..... ?

I think we should do a "Feet per Ounce" test !!!
Let's see....roughly 18 gallons at 128 oz per gallon==about 2300 oz.
Let's Do It !!! :clap:

Stumbled across this article on the towing tests for vehicles and thought this would be interesting to folks because it’s come up before:

https://explorerrvclub.com/blog/sae-tow-ratings-system/
So, is there a way to find out if the Ranger just meets or exceeds the standard? ?

Maybe we shouldn't know ?

Someone may be encouraged to try to tow something that will leave the bed on the ground ? :facepalm: or the front wheels off the ground :giggle: :LOL:

Hah, true. Before I got my Ranger I towed with my Subaru Ascent and was possibly at, or possibly over, tongue rating at some point. I was banking on a conservative tow rating because manufacturers know that people will either a) have no idea about tow capabilities or b) push the envelope.

At least on the Ranger, I’ve towed similar conditions to the grade test on Sherwin grade on Hwy 395 and only see elevated temps if I maintained normal highway speed - so it gives me confidence.

Why have the summary when you can have the whole thing?

Granted, it is the 2016 version, but I don't think a ton has changed since then.
