Similarly configured to what I have today is about 5-6k over sticker in 2021. Though, I bought mine used - so the difference is closer to 10k. Hard to say if this is ‘expensive’ or not, because well - everything is more expensive. Typing this response probably cost me $1 vs pennies at some point. ?

When i was shopping midsize trucks last august i had heard prices would be going up by $5000 on the upcoming ranger and tacoma. The GM twins were redesigned for 2023 and they were priced $5000 more the the last gen. Its one of the reasons i jumped on the 2023 ranger tremor.

Wait till inventory doesn't move and whatever the dealers have on the lots will come down.

I bought my 2019 Lariat 2WD that September and it was - after discounts and incentives around $35K. It was tough to commit to that big a purchase then but after nearly five years I can say I'm pleased with the truck and hope to keep it a long time and drive it lots.

I am guessing there will be rebates and such as well once these saturate dealers and they move slowly.

Another stinger for me is that I really saw the value in the Tremor package, I love this '21 XLT Tremor and at ~$42k MSRP, I feel like going to a $43k XLT FX4 is a down grade in the areas I care most about (not to mention looks but hey maybe it will grow on me).

I think GM may have the better truck for off roading at least under $50k. The Z71 Colorado at $43k or the ZR2 for $48k. Would never go Nissan and think Toyota is over rated, plus their v6 TT engine failures, wonder if these issues trickle down to the smaller engines. The Gladiator Rubicon rental I had in Texas was horrible and only had 6k miles, no thanks on that front solid axle unless you have big plans.

Ah either way, I am keeping my '21, I was just hoping the interior was a little larger so I could justify the Ranger Raptor. My wife always complains about the space when we tow. I am in this weird mental state that unless I can get a F150 Raptor, I ain't going full size. The F150 Tremor did some nice things but stopped a little short of expectation.

My 2019 fx4 Lariat with just about every option was 38k out the door with a MSRP of 48k. I dont think there will be deals like that on Rangers, f150s maybe. Then theres financing....

I got the same deal as you on my '19. At that time the dealers had a lot of Rangers on their lots and I had several fully loaded ones to chose from. I narrowed it down between the Saber and the Lightning Blue but had always loved the Saber color because it was a rare color. I also got 0% which was a bonus.

After it was totaled I was scrambling to find a Tremor because they were getting close to changing over from the 5G to the 6G. Luckily I found a Tremor in transit that was still available for msrp which I've never paid but everyone else was over that. The invoice was $49,210 and I had a email rebate code from Ford for $1,250 off so it was $47,960.00 with fees which is crazy for a mid size truck. I still have my window stickers from my F 150's that were only $32,000. but it just shows you how much prices (with inflation) have gone up over the years. :curse:

This really drove it home for me - just how much prices have gone up. I put in the sticker price for my truck from 2019 (not what I paid, but MSRP):

In 5 years time, inflation has increased the price by over $10,000. When I priced out a similarly equipped '24 (couldn't do it exactly, but as close as I could come since they changed packages, etc), it was about a $7,000 increase. Looking at it in those terms it doesn't seem so bad - but prices are out of control for sure....

Ok, I went down the rabbit hole of looking at the Ranger Raptor videos so now I am getting all kinds of 2024 Ranger videos in my YouTube feed. Looks aside, I feel like the price is a large jump year over year or am I just getting old? lol The Raptor is the only one that I feel is priced accordingly but dealer will ruin that with markups.

I was pretty surprised when I saw a 2024 2WD Lariat for MSRP $46k today at the dealer. That was nearly what a 2021-23 Ranger Lariat Tremor was going for? Lariat FX4 is $50k? These are not even with the v6 engine options.

That and I am not a fan of the front end, I keep seeing a big Maverick from the front rather than a small F150. I consider the Raptor front end okay looking but still get those vibes from it.

In a way I am glad I feel this way because I have zero feeling of upgrading. It is making me want to do some mods I was holding out on.

Am I alone on this or just biased?
One thing for sure...there's no lack of inventory sitting in lots...what a business model lol...

Well, at least we know that inflation is "transitory".

But seriously, some people think that when inflation is down that means prices will fall. That rarely or never happens.

Yeah, prices RARELY fall. The other thing that makes it seem so bad I think is the dollars involved. Percentage wise it is significant, but when you have vehicles that cost so much to begin with, it makes it that much worse - if that makes sense to anyone else except me.

I remember cringing at the thought of spending 40k on a truck - and spending 10k+ more than that to replace it just sends shivers up my spine.

I prefer the look and individuality of the 5g significantly over the 6g. I don't know why ford thinks everything they make has to look the same. I would think diversity in design would potentially bring in more customers than branding the same look on everything. What about those that don't care for your one look.
same here. the 5g is a good looking truck. the 6 looks just like every other "truck" for sale currently. boxy, fake bulges, clunky high hood flat face. they fed a maverick blue bell and oreos every day for 2 years then named it ranger.

This is a simple thing to fix if people just don't buy them. Sadly, too many people will.
