I have a 2020 Ford Ranger STX that just crossed over 20k miles. I've always had the truck regularly serviced.

Love the truck except one thing - 4 times so far the truck has had problems accelerating, like where the transmission fails to shift up and no matter how hard you go on the gas pedal it's stick at going like 20-25 mph.

It's happened 2 times in the summer and 2 times in winter when it was freezing outside.

Both times I pulled the truck over, shut it off, and then turned it back on and the issue went away.

Any thoughts as to what the issue could be? On the broader scale, does the 10-speed transmission the truck have need any special ongoing maintenance or anything like that?

I'd bring it to your dealership and ask if they can reset your KAM (Keep Alive Memory) so that the transmission adaptive learning can start from scratch. Just a suggestion.

I'm hoping it's something small like that. I'm going to ask them about it when I take it back in.

I have a 2020 ford ranger lariat has about 67xxx miles now but at around 50k I had the serpentine belt pulley break off the timing belt cover for unknown reasons, they couldn't figure out what caused it so they replace the broken part along with new belts and pulleys now I'm at 67xxx and the truck started bogging down specially in the morning I let it warm up for around 10 mins or so and I start driving it but once I come to a stop light and I give

Something similar has happened to me twice.
2022 xlt fx2 37k miles
I took off from a stop sign and the truck felt like someone just turned it off. It lurched forward, then absolutely no power for about 2 or 3 seconds just coasted. It did it strangley enough under 10k miles. Thats when all the gremlins appeared. And just like that, been working fine ever since.

Yeah I'm glad I joined this forum cause I've been killing myself trying to look for solutions since the dealership wasn't no help,I'll eventually take it back in if the truck doesn't relearn the strategy from the recalibration I did if that doesn't work I'll do a crank relearn and see if that helps.

The DPFE sensor is a known issue for similar drivability issues, it will not set a code until well out of programed specs, the issue is that the sensor falsely reports EGR flow to the PCM and the PCM commands the EGR Valve open when it should be closed.
This could possibly be your issue.
But I would hook up scanner (Live) data and see the EGR commanded position at idle.
The symptoms appear before the code appears.

Also, a Live Data view of the Fuel Trims is needed, as I suspect a fuel related issue, pressure or control as well as a bad injector.
So, part of the control is the Engine Coolant Temp sensor, that ties into the fuel delivery and timing of the injector pulse.
This in another example of sometimes (no code) symptoms appear before a code is set.

Another possibility is a failing Coil when it's cold, heat it up it works.
The Ranger has some history for some owners getting rainwater down into the plug wells shorting out the coil. (#4 and #1) Plugs.
It may be a good idea to pull the COP's and check for water or corrosion in the wells.
You can view Live data and see misfire events for the cylinders this would most likely code though.

My Ranger behaved similarly once and it was not the truck - it was me!

I was at highway speed on a two-lane and slowed for a car that had pulled onto the road. I patiently waited for it to get up to speed but it didn’t so I pulled out to pass, got into the gas and…….nothing. Pulled back into my lane and tried again. Same result. I thought there was something seriously wrong with the transmission until I figured it all out.

I was driving in “S” mode as usual, with my hand on the shifter (old habit) and had inadvertently pressed the +/- button, which activates manual shifting in “S” mode. I was likely in 10th gear at the time and cruising at 60+ mph. When I pulled out to pass, I had probably slowed to 40 mph or less and was still in 10th. So, yeah, it just bogged down

If you drive in “S” mode with your hand on the shifter, maybe your truck is just fine.

as stated above your most likely culprits are (in order)

DPFE - <$50 part usually kicks the bucket betwixt 40k-60k. Engine would be hesitating from a stand-still. it's like 3 clamps and a screw to replace it right on the side of the block its cake. lots of write-ups on this one on the forum. If you wanna check it - disconnect the electrical connector to it and take it for a drive. if your issue disappears - its the DPFE.

transmission recalibration - just have the dealer flash it and put it into relearn mode

turbo lag - if you're not running premium (which i did up until recently) i notice the turbo takes slightly longer to spool. i'm on 33's tho.

Other potential solutions:

Coyote swap it

Thank you I'll start with that today I'm guessing it has something to do with airflow restrictions so I'll start with the egr valve disconnected and drive it and see if it's that and the dealer did do a transmission and pcm update(tsb)and I'd didn't help so they checked the tps sensor n it was fluctuating so they replaced it.but yeah I'll start there at the egr. And I've always used 89 or 91 on all my vehicles
