No, not better mileage.
Somewhere here there's a discussion about that and possibly a Mythbusters link to back that up.

I think cruising speed may be a bigger factor at the moment this shot. =D

I believe you’re right Chris, there was some back and forth about tailgates and tonneaus, and gas mileage. I can’t recall if was a link to Myth Busters that ended the discussion or if Phil chimed in about some testing that was conducted at Ford and then told a cool back story about breaking trucks, or racing trucks, or some of the cool characters he got to hang out with. ?

As I recall, there was one thread where the Mythbusters footage came into play, and Phil's backstory was in a different thread, where it started off as a response to why the Ford logo is found on the front end of the bed. Part of that backstory was about the testing that you mentioned, where they came to the same conclusion as Mythbusters (only Phil's story pre-dated the MB episode by a couple of decades), but used the "logo in the bed as a means of advertising" cover story to keep the results of their testing from becoming public knowledge and therefore giving them an edge over the competition.

Drove it, for the first time since this happened, just before Christmas.

that looks painful brother. was it a knee repair surgery?? torn
Yes torn quadriceps tendon. Almost completely detached from my patella. Needed a full surgical repair. That pic was the morning after surgery.
1 month in a locked leg brace, then another two months in the same brace with crutches, but progressively unlocking it to 90 degrees, the last couple of weeks I have discarded the brace, learning to walk again, can now walk unaided but carry a stick for stairs, or uneven ground. I'm still trying to recover my full range of motion, it may take up to 12 months to return to something like normal again I'm told.
Hopefully I'll get official clearance to drive to work on Monday.

Yes I've started walking now again, I used to do 4-5Km a day on average before the accident, now I'm slowly building up again. My first walk of about 250 metres nearly killed me a couple of weeks ago, how fast we get so weak! I'm up to about 1 km now without issue.

Geezaloo Cam, that’s rough! It seems like you’re headed in the right direction with your recovery. As they say, slowly but surely.

All the best with getting your strength and range of motion back! ?
