Something to keep in mind for those that travel OffRoad. Make sure you stick with a air box style intake instead of going with an open box. With the open box you have a higher chance of Dirt Dust and Debris coming in and a much higher chance of water getting in when taking on water crossings

Mine makes quite a bit of noise for sure. It’s a 4” upper intake with a 3.5” turbo inlet and 57mm turbo. Sounds like a vacuum cleaner when casually accelerating ?
can you quote the parts or kit that you bought? sounds interesting. i used to like hearing my buddies 1987 gran national turbo spool up

For people that have one of the CAI systems installed, do you like it? Any noticeable improvement in power and/or mpg? I am liking the way that the Mishimoto seems to be better engineered than the competition (intake hose is larger, intake system scoop is larger, dry filter, and high quality materials). The Rousch one looks cool as well and users seem to like it, but it seems like a lot of money for an intake hose, lid and filter. All of these CAI kits are insanely priced, so if I do buy one I want it to be worthwhile. I currently have the Ford Performance tune with a drop in K&N filter and it seems to be good, but more power is always better. Any input helps. Thanks!
I too have the Ford Tune that came with the K&N filter but there's numerous evidence and videos https://www.facebook.com/reel/381281334519274 about these oil filters and how the residue from them can screw up your MAPT sensor so I went back to the Ford paper filter but that tune is awesome and worth every penny

Wasn't there an article or a YouTube myth busters style video testing intakes that concluded that intakes rarely made a difference EXCEPT on a Ranger!! ?

Our trucks for whatever reason the way they're built from the factory must be a little starved for air and giving them a bit extra showed up readily in testing and it was about the only vehicle they tested that showed an improvement
when you change the intake you have to change to output(exhaust) or you're not going to see much of an improvement

There is no sensor that is affected like that on our trucks. We don’t have a MAF sensor and all the other sensors are pretty much immune to oil contamination.

I have dyno tested quite a few different intakes on stock as well as modified and tuned Rangers. They all pretty much added 8-16rwhp on premium fuel. Tuning broadened the gain but it was still the same gain tuned or not. After heavy modifications a well chosen intake becomes much more beneficial. I’m going to retest some of the intakes again now that I have more modifications and power.

Aug 5, 2023 — was disconnected (This is not the MAF sensor) The Ranger uses the MAP sensor, which has a dual purpose, Manifold Pressure/Temperatur
Yes a tmap or whatever you want to call it. That is a sensor that is built to have hot oily air with fuel vapor and other nasty stuff because it’s located in the intake manifold like a mile away from the air intake.
