Dorman transmission pan

Long time lurker first time post creator but would appreciate any input on if anyone has bought the Dorman transmission pan that fits with the drain plug? I know there’s the others that are far more superior but I don’t feel I need that. I just want a pan that has a drain plug. I would appreciate anyone’s comments that has bought one and your thoughts on it.

Definitely a first hearing about it and decided to take a peak. From what I can see all it does is add the drain plug, keeps the plastic pan and same capacity.

For the price it isn't bad. Only thing to consider is filling the transmission. The dip stick design(or lack there of) makes servicing a pain to say the least so keep that in mind.

Wow, I had no idea this existed. I don't see why it would be bad. Looks similar in material to the original with the added bonus of an actual drain plug.

From what I read, it sure seems legit and I don't see why it would be bad.

That said, many here have serious Ranger cred, so they'll shed light on this.

Thanks for posting because I would have never known about this option and only thought the $$$ were it.

Claims it's steel powder coated. It's gathered my attention as I want to add the fitz stick when I do it.

If you're going to the trouble to drain and drop it, put an aluminum pan on there. Plastic is ridiculous. Crawl under and look at it. It screams vulnerable.

I can see it as an alternative for those who don't need an aluminum or deep replacement pan. Those who do their own fluid changes and just need a drain plug.
And for $75 bucks or so, it's not a bad way to go.
Had the OE pan had a drain plug already installed, I might have just stayed with it as I don't do any off roading, but just want the ability to drain fluid and drop pan to change the filter.
Of course the xtra 2 qts of fluid in the deep pan doesn't hurt !!!
Really nothing wrong with the "plastic" pan....heck, look under the hood....halt the stuff under it is "plastic"
And, you could get it and the "Fitzstick" for about the same $$$ as the aluminum pan !!!

I see what you’re saying. I just went off the rock auto sight that said steel powder coat. Thanks for the clarification. I didn’t think to look it up on dormans actual sight.

Amazon has it for $72.76! I have a steel Dorman pan with plug going on my 2005 Ranger. Paid $35 for it new, and that included shipping!

I have already purchased a PPE Deep pan, and it is going on as soon as I replace the hydraulic lines on my Bendpak Lift today. And Fitz's Dip stick is worth every penny! Installed it and it is accurate.

I trust Dorman products.

If you don't do any hard off-roading, and stick to public roads, I'd say it's worth checking out.

Personally, I avoid doorman products but if it fits your budget and gets you a drain plug then why not?

Your mis-reading/mis-understanding the $$$$.
Aluminum pan from PPE runs around $300 or so depending on which you get.
The Mishimoto Pan runs around $260 or so depending on where you get it.
Dorman pan runs around $75 or so.
Dorman pan--$75 plus Fitzstick--$159.......total for both is less than the Mishimoto pan by itself, much less than the PPE pan by itself.
