I got both trans pans and comparing them. The Mishimoto pan is very nice and as you can see it’s a deep pan..
‘The PPE pan is not the deep one but between the two I like it better. It’s a lot heavier thicker

and the drain plug is larger. what do you think? I’m going to weigh them to find out the difference.

I just received my Mishimoto, and am very pleased with it.
Truly, either one is a big improvement over the OE plastic pan....could not go wrong with either one.
Like WeatherTech vs Husky or Yokohama vs Toyo tires....it's nice to have choices....

per the photo I prefer the PPE pan. the outside/bottom cooling fins look like they will
be more efficient since they are straight.
however I like the inside fins on the Mishimoto better than the ones on the PPE pan
because they are taller.

One thing I for got to say is with the deep pan why is there no filter extension?
Any time I got a deep pan it came with a filter extension.

Why would you need an extension with the deep ??? If you fill it to the proper level, the filter will still be in the same orientation as it would be with the stock pan.....remember, with the deep pan your going to add around 2 xtra quarts, and the filter/pick up will still be imersed.

on my C4 when it was upgraded, the trans builder insisted on a filter extension with a deep pan. during hard acceleration & cornering the standard filter will not be covered by the fluid.
it will most likely be the same for the Ranger setup.

Don't see how that could be if you fill it to the correct level?

Yeah, my local dealer where I bought the Ranger is just 5 miles away, and they give me a 10% discount. Just gonna get it there Monday.
Maybe cheaper but add shipping and cost is within a few $$$...not enough to bother me.

That was a C4, which they stopped making almost 40 years ago.....things have changed.
If you add 2 quarts of fluid to the deep pan, it will bring the level up to the same as the OE pan with it's proper fluid.
Take a 6 oz glass and fill it to the brim....
Now take an 8 oz glass and put 6 oz in it....same as 6 oz glass....BUT, now add 2 extra oz, and walla....filled to the brim !!!
Additionally, I don't believe anyone makes an "extension" for the 10R80.

So, since you bought both pans, which would you go with? Can I buy the one you dont use ?

Weight isn't my concern here. With that said I prefer the PPE Pan due to not trying to rely on increase capacity for cooling, instead using the fins for increased cooling ability. With a deeper pan you need to have a matched filter.

What do you mean by a "matched filter" ?

it is still the same principle, filter/pick up is not covered when cornering & hard acceleration.
