My idea of old school waxing involves my brother with our mom’s clothes iron and a lot of yelling. I never waxed my skis back then. They were way too long and heavy but they were on sale and all we could afford. I didn’t care and still flew down the hills like I was Spider Sabich. ?Yay! Yes they got over a foot on top. Skis get waxed at end of season for storage so only have to remove excess and prep for slopes.
I do my own ski maintenance and have an old school hot waxer. I use one like this.
