The cost to storage capacity / capability is absolutely terrible on these products.
And yet all the Ranger has are two small beer can holders where they fit 1 can each

I’m going to suggest avoiding this one. I have it and while the idea is awesome, the benefits don’t out weigh the drawbacks for the cost.

First is the cost, for under a 100 bucks you’ll get the same storage if not more out of a nice Milwaukee portable tool box. Plus you can use it as a step to get into your bed.

Second is the weight, god damn it’s heavy when empty let alone with recovery gear in it.
Don’t expect a tailgate damper to help here. If this was made out of carbon fiber then I could potentially see the value.

Third is the latch rods are just a bitch to get lined up correctly. Even now opening my tailgate is a bit of an art.

Did I mention it’s stupid heavy.

Side note, if you have a silver ranger and want this product I’ll gladly swap you tailgates and 300 bucks on your side.

I won't argue about it being heavy as I have mentioned it on the original thread a little over a year ago(close to two). Compared to a portable tool box? The portable tool box takes up space that you are trying to maximize so not really a good comparison there. Won't argue the latch rods.much as it was a little pain to set, but once it was set I was good.

Put simple it is great for the small things(straps and what not) since the space is limited. Even with a camping setup it can be beneficial. For me it was the lack of storage under the rear seats(we all know that tiny space sucks and Ford could have done better).

Is it for everyone? Not really because it all depends on your needs.

I think in most cases, most things that would fit in this thing would also fit in the under seat storage, barring any long rigid items. Even then, there are a few inches of clearance from the floor to the underside of the seat (which is hollow and has "give")

I think I'd rather put the $500+ towards a rack system if I needed the extra storage.

How much weight can that tailgate support at the end of the day if you do this, load it up then start crawling on it etc.

Adding one of these storage units might actually make a good case for needing tail gate dampers.

Interesting idea. But hard pass for me. I'm in line with Grumpaw's response.

I agree, and it is so much work to gain a little storage. They'd be better off marketing a replacement tailgate. They could make doors on the outside!

Johnny O’s storage. Cost: $0.00.
Neighbor was throwing out the storage tote. Drilled a 1" hole in each side.
