My driver's side (only) looked like that, but not as much as yours has. First time I hand washed the vehicle and went over that area with my microfiber mitt, a lot flaked off the bottom edge. I got color matched OEM paint and touched up.

Surprised me. I was totally expecting to see a complaint about the badly engineered too high ass end.
Don't look down the bed side...it's probably not aligned to the cab...

Got this baby Monday. No complaints except for the caulk?? Coming out of the body underneath! Dealership is going to "fix" it

That’s similiar to mine. Pieces started coming off when it rained if I was parked. I have a thread about it somewhere. Mine looked like it was gobbed on. They would frequently fall off when in motion as well. Had to take it to the body shop. They had to remove the whole bed to redo it. Best part was sales guy said it was normal and standard, what a clown. I found the link: https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/pinch-weld-paint-globs.14575/

I am a Corrosion Engineer for an OEM. I am responsible for Seam Sealer, Underbody Protection(what is pictured) and Cavity Wax. My professional advice is don’t mess with it. The risk vs reward factor is not there. If too much is removed you will compromise the pinch weld on the flange as Phil was referring to. If to much is removed and they apply additional UBP it will more than likely not be cured properly due to not having a controlled jelling oven. There are several products used for Body Shop repairs that work well but nothing will protect as well as the original. Hopefully the response is not to long but this is literally in my wheel house and Had to put my 2 cents in. I don’t want you having corrosion issues years down the road.

Sand it even, tape it off, and spray that lip black. 10-15 minutes total and it will look/be fine. I painted that lip on mine when I bought it, just for the hell of it, and it still looks good years later. I have NEVER looked at my truck as close as some here, but I don't recall seeing anything similar to that on my truck.

My Hot Tomato Red was as noticeable, but once I realized the function versus “perfection”, I love it!
