I would flunk parallel parking portion of the driver's test in that beast...
I would have too.
But I have not had problems parallel parking since owning that.

I've always used my mirrors and never rely on the rear camera either. The only thing I'll use it for is to check the distance of how close I'm getting when I'm backing up against a wall.
Yeah but....
The rear camera has allowed auto manufacturers to design cars that are much more ascetically pleasing but have horrible blind spots behind them. Not the kind that impact you in traffic, but the kind that make it hard to back up. The wife's car is like driving a bathtub. Her last car (Mustang) had a high read decklid too. Cameras were a MUST in those.

Agreed mirrors should be the go to but they are morphing cars and making them to where you have to be dependent on the camera.

Mirrors only the majority of the time.

Camera only to check the bumper at the end like @AzScorpion said.

Yep. With the good ol' steel bumpers it was much less risky to "feel" where the limit was!

Periodically when I see a case of stupid on the road I wish my Ranger was about a '68 F100. Put that nice bumper to good use.
I drove a '74 Chevy Malibu wagon in high school. I once hit a utility pole and the only damage it did was knock my rear speakers out of the cubbies in the back. You could see where the bumper "shocks" had been compressed. Likely would have set off the airbags today.

we can agree to disagree on whether the high waisted look is aesthetically pleasing

You can't hardly see shit out of the back (and the front takes a little getting used to too). Wouldn't be possible w/o the camera.

Let's also not forget this gem that was ahead of it's time with out a camera.

For some of us, parking is a challenge even with the Ranger. I was totally shocked when I came back to my truck last week after parking. My only theory is that Tracy drove over from Alabama and moved my truck somehow. ?

Coming from a 2000 Ranger, at first I was a little surprised how much bigger my 22 is than the 00. Honestly though, it's way easier with this new one because my old one was a manual and that added an extra level of difficulty when parallel parking. But I will say this: when parking nose in, a lot of times I find myself too close to the right side of the parking spot. I have to concentrate on staying to the left and I find that if I pull into a spot and think I'm too far to the left it winds up being just about centered in the spot. So I can relate to your picture, kind of. I've had mine for a little over 7 months now and I'm still having to make an effort to make sure I stay to the left.
